A forum for all things Cardiff City

It’s fair to say there are some surprising selections on both sides tonight. Phil Jagielka hasn’t featured much under Marco Silva this season, but returns to captain Everton, with Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina among the regular starters to drop to the bench.
For Cardiff, there’s still no sign of Victor Camarasa, with Joe Ralls and Lee Peltier also missing out completely.
Leandro Bacuna gets a start in central midfield, Sean Morrison keeps his place at centre-back and Bobby Decordova-Reid returns to the No.10 role behind Kenneth Zohore - who makes a first start since September.
STARTING 11
Neil Etheridge
Bruno Manga
Sol Bamba
Sean Morrison
Joe Bennett
Aron Gunnarsson
Leandro Bacuna
Junior Hoilett
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing
Bobby Decordova-Reid
Kenneth Zohore
SUBSTITUTES
Alex Smithies
Lee Peltier
Harry Arter
Kadeem Harris
Josh Murphy
Callum Paterson
Danny Ward

Was quite happy with that until I saw Cardiff City's very own version of Elliott Ness still in the team. FFS Warnock drop him, he is shite.

Much better front 4

Bacuna Gunnarsson and Reid in the middle is inteetsing Reid in the whole I would assume

Would've preferred Arter in for Bacuna. Let's hope he is actually alongside gunnars not right back.
And a nice balance across the front 4. NML and JH will do their best tracking back too.
Shame I can't make midweek games. Looking forward to a backlash.

That is scary. No harry arter no camarasa and Morrison in again.
Tue Feb 26, 2019 6:57 pm
That's us done then

Joe ralls surely must be injured? I would have started arter over bacuna and not put Hoilett and morrison anywhere near the starting 11!!!
Good to see danny ward back on the bench

Looks strong, hope they set up properly and none of this weird wingback man marking nonsense.
Personally would have kept Arter in.

Hmmm think we'll be worrying outclassed in midfield. Simply have to score first but unfortunately I fear the usual script of one nil down after 15 minutes is coming. Come on City!

Better team tonight than Friday, but still doesn’t look right. Great to have Reid back in and this will be a big opportunity for Zohore.

Personally would have kept Arter in.
Two wingers playing and Bennett so can’t see wings backs here would mean hoilett or NML playing centre mid

I'm assuming that this is meant for all out attack. Great if it works but I don't know exactly what's going to happen if they can't score early.
Callum was the one man who bothered Everton last time so I don't know why he's only on the bench.
I'm beginning to suspect that Camassarra is history for us because Sir Neil seems to be trying to find a way without him.
This whole selection seems to be an attempt to play as we did in the Championship and I'm not sure that'd work here. Looks as if we're going to try and exploit corners and long throws as we did there.
I think we'll see goals one way or another, but I hope we haven't been left open.

Considering we've only got about 3 premier league players in squad thats a fair assumption !
