This is a terrible result. The scoreline makes that obvious.
Going into this we had won two in a row, yet Warnock drops Reid and Gunnarsson - arguably our best players from those games.
He seemed desperate to put Morrison in tonight, fit or not, when Bamba and Manga had a good partnership recently.
I saw someone post before the match something like this - “Whatever the result, Warnock will still be one of our best ever managers.” Sorry, I don’t see the logic in that. He does not get a free pass.
There is one man who is mostly responsible for tonight and it’s the manager for his team selection.
Hopefully he sees sense in time for Everton on Tuesday.
Fri Feb 22, 2019 9:27 pm
Totally agree
He has really messed up tonight, Watdford are a really good team but the lineup has made us really disjointed
Fri Feb 22, 2019 9:27 pm
Agree. How he can drop Reid after his recent form is beyond me. It’s not like he needs a rest. He’s hardly played and just had two weeks off.
And to slot Morrison in when the defence has looked pretty solid recently?
We will get the usual “boys worked ever so hard” “fans were magnificent” post match interview
Fri Feb 22, 2019 9:29 pm
And then he goes on sub Murphy and Niasse. Beggars belief! Patterson. Useless Patterson. He have to drop dead being dropped, dosent he? Should be Reid all day long running down the right. Warnock out! Clueless clown.

His mind is on other matters old Willie his mate starti g to spill the beans !!
Colin can’t concentrate on football with tracky bottoms round his ankles !
Fri Feb 22, 2019 9:31 pm
Totally agree.
Most of us over the season have been lenient on some of Warnocks selections but tonight all our buttons have been pushed.
Fri Feb 22, 2019 9:33 pm
Yes poor team selection, especially to disrupt the back four with Morrison was not good. Allowing the team a holiday was also questionable too. However, the decision not to award a penalty before half time was shocking in this game. Could have been different if we equalised. Watford stuffed us at Vicarage road and I expected defeat tonight again. Move on quickly.

We would still have lost 5-2, always a capitulation with our team whilst Big but useless Morrison plays.

Tactically, Warnock once again lost this game for us. I could rant and rave in a long post, but I won’t - I’ve donw that before this season, and seemingly get accused of being fickle.
I’ll be brief: man marking is costing us games, over and over. How the hell Warnock cannot ass that, when the opposing managers use our use of man marking against us EVERY WEEK is shocking.
Also shocking is the fact Murphy when made it to half time. 4 minutes in, he’d given the call away 3 times. At 13 minutes in, it was clear he was going to be useless tonight. Yet, he came out for the second half.
No man is bigger than Cardiff City, and those who seem to maintain that Warnock IS bigger than our club [by claiming he should get a free pass this season, even if we go down] are the problem, not those who have been saying for months that Warnock is losing us games we shouldn’t be losing. At least not in the manner we are.
1-5 at home to Watford. Let that sink in.

Awful team selection, system tactics and subs tonight. Some abysmal personal performances thrown in for good measure as well

Reid doesn’t play on the right.
Murphy needed to be subbed today.

Another post in this thread bemoans Murphy being subbed. So many different views.

Can’t believe what I just watched
Why change a team that won two on the bounce
I know Peltier missing but just slot Bacuna in there and carry on
Warwick has to hold his hand up on this one tactics we’re all over the shop
Paterson is not a winger
Morrison is shocking was his last game before his illness
Fri Feb 22, 2019 10:16 pm
Deulefou absolutely ripped us a new one. Ex-Barca you can tell. Not a Warnock type player is he! ie: someone who can pass the ball accurately, hold on to the ball, find space easily and is totally tactically aware.
Fuming at that second half embarrassment.
Agree with general consensus here.
Don't change a winning team!
Take a risk sometimes Neil - play 2 strikers up front and stop Watford from playing it out from the back with no pressure!
Back 4 completely disrupted by Morrison's presence. The man has had a relatively poor season and he's been found out.
I feel sorry for Reid - the boy does not deserve to be chuckec back on the bench - what's Warnocks problem with him!?
If we'd the same starting 11 as we did against B'mouth we MAY have seen a different outcome tonight.
I really worry we won't recover from this for Tuedays game and sadlt fear we're down with NW at the helm and I'm sad to admit that.
Fri Feb 22, 2019 10:18 pm
We were shockingly bad tonight and poor team selection by Warnock. However Watford ain't no mediocre team; they're damned good and possibly after the top six the best of the rest.
We can only hope Warnock learned an important lesson on team selection tonight together with keeping our fingers crossed other results go our way over the weekend.
Fri Feb 22, 2019 10:21 pm
I don't think anyone seen that team before the game and thought yes that's right. So many weird decisions, no Reid who has been excellent. What was going on down the right Bacuna, Paterson at times. Totally wrong line up and tactics. This one's down to wanrock.
Fri Feb 22, 2019 10:21 pm
terrible that was warnock has to take flack for that unless pelts is injured y change back 4 and to drop reid wtf niasse ran his legs off tonight but he couldnt do it on his own thought murphy was terrible thats y he went off still gobsmacked even tho game was screaming for usti stick 2 up top and we wer well behind he swaps niasse for zohore shocking still on to tuesday
Fri Feb 22, 2019 10:22 pm
I've got to agree with all the posts. I'm not a negative poster but we've thrown away all the positives from the Southampton result.
Piss poor selection, negative tactics and poor performances made Watford look like Barcelona.
How when we were 3 & 4 nil down did we still have 3 centre half's on the pitch?
Fri Feb 22, 2019 10:26 pm
As soon as I seen Morrison was starting I knew we would struggle. No idea why Warnock made so many changes when we have been playing so well. He will blame the ref but he should take full responsibility for that shit tonight.

didn't the ref make mistakes

"They're a fantastic team. Ive always said that"
"We never expected to be in the prem. If you'd have offered me this position with 12 to go. Id have snatched your hand off"
"We made sloppy errors"
"He's a class act, aye. He showed that with his hat trick today"
I'm going for something along these lines.
Fri Feb 22, 2019 10:48 pm
Gobsmacked by the team selection and tactics. We had no holding player in midfield and they seemed to have done their homework on our weak left side of defence. Playing three centre halves and two wing backs plus Patterson left us weak down the middle. Neil must have though things were ok since no changes were made half time. Hats off to Watford they murdered us.

We should have had a pen in the first half but we didn’t lose that game because of the ref. We were all over the shop in midfield and even worse in defence by taking Gunnars out and bringing in Morrison. Our back 4 has looked pretty solid the last few games and shouldn’t have been changed. Why change a winning team?
Fri Feb 22, 2019 10:56 pm
That was embarrassing.

I felt we would get at least a point tonight a d then as soon as I saw the line up I expected a defeat but not by that margin. Me has to take responsibility after our 2 best performances of the season why change it? But I guess Sean Morrison will still play on Tuesday
Fri Feb 22, 2019 11:06 pm
I think we need to get a grip here.
I thought we shaded it first half and we should definitely have had a pen. The first half showed no mistakes in selection to me. Yes we made two very sloppy mistakes for goals 2 and 3. It them becomes very difficult to keep the players heads up when they’d given so much. 5-1 was very unfair but we’ve got to stop the mistakes.

Sir Neil has to take full responsibility that we were playing tonight in the Premier League, and that we're well into the second half of the season and not ( quite) in the bottom three .
Like all leaders he took a decision on the team and maybe he didn't get it right this time, but he gets it right much more than he gets it wrong , which is why we're in this league instead of being away to Rotherham tonight.
If it's any consolation I'm much more desolate about this game than a sensible or logical man should be in a world where people are starving and much more serious things happen as we recently saw . We mustn't turn on our own though and we certainly mustn't turn on Sir Neil.
I can understand the bitter dissapointment but I don't like this scapegoating and it won't help anything.
When we win its a collective effort from the manager and the team , the board and certainly the collective willpower of our great supporters. When we lose we must shoulder the weight between us and when we don't win we must instead learn.
We could point the finger at different people on the field tonight as well - our most consistent and reliable man made a terrible cock up which led to a goal and our Captain who has won so many games was off form ... I could go on , but let's not because the man who never made a mistake never made anything else either and we don't have a choice except to either put it down to experience and march on or tear each other to pieces like rats in a sack.
Hey, I came on here tonight hoping someone could cheer me up not to deliver a sermon , ( I'd still appreciate that if anyone feels up to it ), but it's over now so the quicker we join ranks again and face the front the better.
( You can see why so many people end up on the piss , can't you ?
