Welsh fa say Sala is registered as a Cardiff player

Dominic Booth , Media Wales

21/02/19

Emiliano Sala was registered with the Football Association of Wales and confirmed him as a Cardiff player, leaving the club liable to pay Nantes the transfer fee.

However, the PFA is reported to be set to push for the pension fund "to honour the payment as Sala had signed a contract with Cardiff on January 18".

The Premier League registration is separate to the International Transfer Certificate, which was completed after Sala’s move to Cardiff from Nantes. That was registered with the Football Association of Wales and confirmed him as a Cardiff player, leaving the club liable to pay Nantes the transfer fee.

John Bramhall, the PFA deputy chief executive, told The Times: "It will be for the trustees to see whether they are able to make the payment from there. Normally it would be a simple process but we will be speaking with them on this. Usually, as soon as a contract is registered with the Premier League the player is enrolled on the pension scheme."

Argentinian striker Sala died after the plane he was flying in crashed into the English Channel on January 21. His funeral took place in Argentina at the weekend.

About time we left the FAW , waste of time, paying in, not entering Welsh Cup, this stupid International clearance , really don't see the purpose of them apart from park football.

PS. I believe your very first sentence is wrong.

Warnock said Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman would deal with everything "in the right way."

"They’ve asked for an extension (to pay the fee) and Nantes have agreed to that," said Warnock.

"In reflection, certain things have been done which shouldn't have been done.

"Emiliano was my player and a Cardiff City player and i believe our club will do it the right way."

I have hated the Welsh FA since they kicked all of us out of the Welsh Cup, sending Welsh football backwards in club competitions.

But if they have confirmation Emiliano Sala was registered properly, I think we might have to pay as they really control us even though we are in the English League.

Yes, agree with all of that! :thumbright:

Welsh football tried to be bigger than it was in and around the (late) Alun Evans era. Not only did they ruin the progression of Welsh clubs (Newport, Merthyr and Colwyn Bay had to move to England to play their games for a long while) but also tried to envelope the Welsh EFL clubs at that time (Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham)

Our referees/assistants have no real progression either' and the days of us producing a Clive Thomas, a Keith Cooper or a Roger Gifford are long gone!

I think the issue is due to the amendments to the contract not signed, it will all come out in the wash, but at the moment it's all guesswork to fill the papers, half the time we are arguing about stuff that's not true and never going to happen !!!

We are just fans, and as such we should concentrate on supporting Warnock and the team through these important twelve remaining games and stick together :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

To me Sala was not a Cardiff player, as few papers works were sent back to the club, to sort out. So why will Cardiff need to pay out here ?

On that issue, and I've no idea on this , but can't we enter a reserve team in the actual Welsh League which I imagine would be in contention to win it and start playing hardball with the Welsh F.A about being allowed to be in the Welsh Cup and therefore Europe.
I imagine they make money out of us in one way and another and we could refuse to let them use the stadium for a start.

Leave the FAW and join who? The English FA? Why not merge nationals teams while we are at it? :banghead:

Sam Hammam, offered the Welsh FA a City reserve team as did our other League clubs, totally turned us all down.

It’s been well publicised that the issue has always been with UEFA. If we were to compete in the welsh cup we could. But then we couldn’t compete in the English FA and league cup. We were invited back by the WFA in around 2011/2012 I forget the exact year but Uefa blocked it. That went for all six clubs and not just Cardiff.

accepting that move would have weakened the FAWs already shakey standing within UEFA and could well have started a chain of events that ended with our places in the EPL in jeopardy..

mate you have to have international clearance via the FAW even if signing a Welsh player from an English club. its mandatory .

and if bollocks someone better tell our manager who on a number of occasions has mentioned the added complication of international clearance when signing players from English clubs.{ which is not the case when transferring from one English club to another }

You point here to the manager saying about the complications of International clearance but a few posts further up you seem to question my post regarding International clearance?

Why would the WFA feel the need to go public on this ?
