BREAKING NEIL WARNOCK: " UPDATES CARDIFF CITY FANS "

:bluebird: :bluebird: ' NEIL WARNOCK UPDATES CARDIFF CITY FANS TODAY ' :bluebird: :bluebird:

Thursday 21st February 2019

The Cardiff City boss spoke at length about the Emiliano Sala transfer dispute and some of the accusations that have come his way.

He also said he had “full confidence” in Mehmet Dalman to solve the issue.

Sean Morrison’s fitness was on the agenda, with the Bluebirds boss positive about his captain’s progress.

Friday night’s game against Watford was also the subject of questions.

Warnock spoke about the chances of Cardiff stringing three Premier League wins together.

'Three consecutive wins for club like Cardiff nigh on impossible'

13th with a win tomorrow?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"To get three wins on the trot in the Premier League for a club like Cardiff is nigh-on impossible.

"We usually played a top team after we won a game earlier in the season."

"Tomorrow will answer a lot of questions. Watford have got big strong players with bags of ability."

NEIL WARNOCK:

Few niggles injury-wise

Team news?

"We’ve got two or three niggles. We’re optimistic one or two might be doing full training, but we’re not far from a full squad at the moment."

Warnock on Zohore's last goal

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I think only Wolves have scored more goals than us in the 90 minutes plus.
I hope Ken continues. He did well when he came on against Man United. He’s got to get a good run and we’re going to need him. He did well with Oumar, which gives us an option of both.
I think players like Troy Deeney are an asset to anybody. I didn’t think it was a reality, although it was mentioned. Most teams in the division would want a Troy Deeney."

'We’ve got good players, it’s about believing in ourselves'

Mentally stronger now?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"I would imagine so yeah. One or two of the younger lads it affected them more, but I think the senior pros have been excellent, your Bambas, Morrisons and Gunnarssons."

"They’re good professionals and they’ve been excellent around the training ground. In adversity you tend to pull together and that’s been the situation."
"But it’s also made us play more, at more of a tempo. And we’ve got good players, it’s about believing in ourselves.
I think the situation calms down."

"The funeral was important and then when we came back, we’ve got to get about our business."
"It’s something we wish hadn’t have happened, but we’ve got to think about the next 12 games."

The latest on Sean Morrison after appendix op

Warnock gives an update on Morrison after he suffered a burst appendix last month.

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Morrison is training. He had another tough session yesterday, he’s just got to have a bit of football in his locker. It’s pointless rushing him with three games in a week - I’m hoping he’ll be involved at some stage.
He’s our leader, to turn down an offer from Sheffield Wednesday and a massive wage increase was an amazing thing. His commitment has been fabulous and he said something special was happening."

NEIL WARNOCK:

'To get two wins on the trot in the circumstances has been super'

Looking ahead to the Watford game:

[Javi Gracia] has lasted longer than anyone else, he’s proven people wrong and he’s a lovely man. Although it was 3-2 down there, they beat us. They’re a strong physical side who have got good players. But we’re a home, we’ll have a good crowd if not a full house and we’re capable of getting a result against anybody.
Cushion to bottom 3?

If you look at some of the teams above us, they’ve had fantastic runs. We’ve got to look after ourselves, set targets and keep to those. I can’t tell you the current target - it’s up on the dressing room wall at the moment.
Stronger now than playing Watford previously?

Oh yeah. We’ve got players who know they can play at that level now. I think the Arsenal game was the turning point, to have 19 shots at Arsenal. And to get two wins on the trot in the circumstances has been super.

NEIL WARNOCK:

Nantes agree extension for transfer fee

Addressing media reports on the financial implications around Sala’s signing with Cardiff, Warnock said:

“I think there’s been a lot of stuff wrote - and I know people have got jobs to do - and people are surmising things.
I’ve known Mehmet Dalman and he’ll do it in the right way. They’ve asked for an extension and Nantes have allowed it.
I’ve got confidence in Mehmet to come to a conclusion. Certain things have been done which shouldn’t have been done - certain things shouldn’t have come out.
All I can talk about is the football side. I’m convinced Mehmet will bring this to a conclusion.
Asked if the saga could drag on, he said:

If we lose every game, I’ll blame that. But football is football.
We’ve had three games since the terrible tragedy and they’ve responded in every game.
12 games to go now, so it’s the same again. It’s difficult to keep playing the same team, we keep getting niggles, and we’re playing probably the best team outside the top six at the moment. Watford have progressed every year.

Warnock addresses media reports

I feel sorry for James (Warnock’s son), Morrison was mentioned that we turned down £5 million from Sheffield Wednesday.
Young Rhys Healey was mentioned, who I think has got a long future in the game. It mentioned me signing Zaha for Palace… it’s what people write I suppose.
A couple of journalists over the last 15 years, it’s not journalism, but hey ho.

NEIL WARNOCK:

'We won’t be six points above the bottom three with a cigar in our mouth'

Based on current form, won’t go down?

If we play like that, yes.
But anyone can beat anyone in the Premier League on their day, apart from the top two or three.
In that bottom half I think there’ll be teams looking below. We’re probably the only team down there who’s known they’re in a fight.
We won’t be six points above the bottom three with a cigar in our mouth at any stage, to be honest.
Looking to the challenge ahead, Warnock says:

We’ve had challenges all season, to get past 11 points was our first challenge, then 20, then it goes on like that.
Everybody appreciates that our budget is as low as it’s ever been in the Premier League. Stories like this can have happy endings, it won’t be for the lack of trying.
Still enjoying?

It’s still exhausting at this stage. We’ll see at the end of the season if I enjoy it or not.

Warnock on Sala's funeral

Warnock was part of the Cardiff City delegation which attended Emiliano Sala’s funeral in Argentina on Saturday.

Speaking at his press conference, Warnock said:

“They’re a very close knit community, everybody came to the wake in the local village hall. I’ve never seen anything like it.
“People coming up to the mother, I don’t know how she coped.
“They were talking about when he was four years old, seven years old.
“She was crying her eyes out but I think she had a bit of closure. It was the right thing to do, but it was an experience to see the emotion from everyone. The press were there from every country.”

That Zohore goal

Three wins on the bounce?

NEIL WARNOCK:

It’d be incredible for a club like ours. It’s been since 1960 that we’ve done a double, so a treble would be beyond that. We’ve got one or two players that are carrying knocks and I don’t really want to play anyone who’s not 100 per cent.
Zohore?

It’s not just the goal, his attitude has been tremendous. I can’t fault him in the last six weeks, he tried really hard to get back into my good books.
He looks as sharp as I’ve ever seen him and he’ll get his opportunity soon with Niasse not available against Everton. People that can score goals are few and far between and we’ve got to hope one of those hits a purple patch.
Points?

I think we’re guessing, everyone would have a different points total. We look at our fixtures and think they’re difficult - I don’t think there are any easy games.

Neil Warnock speaks out amid Emiliano Sala transfer concerns and insists Cardiff City will solve dispute

Thursday 21st February 2019

Neil Warnock has addressed some of the concerns raised around him and Cardiff City that have been made in the wake of the Emiliano Sala transfer dispute and insisted the Bluebirds will resolve the issue.

The Cardiff boss defended the role of his agent son James and some of the deals he's been involved in, which were the subject of a story in the Daily Mail.

And while Warnock was confident Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman would resolve the wrangle with Nantes over Sala's £15million transfer fee, he did defend the club's transfer dealings.

James Warnock works for Unique Sports Management, who represent Sean Morrison among other Cardiff players.

"I feel sorry for James if I'm honest," he said.

"Morrison was mentioned, but we turned down £5million from Sheffield Wednesday so it was a sensible thing to put him on a longer contract.

"Young Rhys Healey was mentioned, who I think has got a good future in the game.

"All the other players were at the club before I was at the club.

"It mentioned me signing Zaha for Palace, I don't think that was a bad signing for £6million when he's worth about £60million now… it’s what people write I suppose."

Warnock reneged on his claim that there had been a "vendetta" against him in the media, having previously denied a tie-in with agent Willie McKay - something which has been written about at length.

Neil Warnock has defended his link with controversial football agent Willie McKay

But he was tight-tipped on McKay's recent comments in the press.

He added: "Vendetta was probably the wrong word really. I just think a couple of journalists over the last 15 years when I look at the columns that have been written, it’s not journalism, but hey ho."

The Cardiff boss admitted "certain things shouldn't have been done" in the Sala dispute.

He confirmed Nantes have agreed to allow Cardiff to delay the first down payment of £5million of the Sala money.

The Ligue 1 club want the fee to be paid in full, though Cardiff bosses have repeatedly stated they want to complete an investigation, seek legal advice and clarify some of the facts surrounding the situation.

Latest media reports have suggested Sala's contract with Cardiff was invalid, with others claiming Sala's family could miss on on £600,000 because of the contract "mistake".

But the Welsh club have always maintained Sala wasn't officially registered as a Bluebirds player, despite a mutual agreement to announce the transfer on January 19.

Legal letters have been exchanged between the clubs, according to reports.

Warnock said Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman would deal with everything "in the right way."

"They’ve asked for an extension (to pay the fee) and Nantes have agreed to that," said Warnock.

"In reflection, certain things have been done which shouldn't have been done.

"It created stories that it shouldn't have done. It should have been kept between clubs.

"All I can talk about is the football side. I’m convinced Mehmet will bring this to a conclusion."

Warnock also reflected on his visit to Argentina to pay his respects to at Sala's funeral. Along with chief executive Ken Choo, he joined Sala's family in Santa Fe last weekend for the wake.

"They’re a very close knit community, everybody came to the wake in the local village hall," he said.

"I’ve never seen anything like it.

"People coming up all the time to the mother, I don’t know how she coped really.

"They were talking about when (Sala) was four years old, seven years old. She was crying her eyes out and it was one of those days, it was non-stop. I think at the end when we went to the crematorium she had a bit of closure.

"I've no doubt was the right thing to do, but it was an experience being there to see all the emotion from everyone."

Watford boss Javi Gracia has admitted he’s never had a football match moved because of rugby.

Cardiff’s clash with the Hornets is on Friday night, moved a day earlier because of the Wales v England Six Nations clash.

The Victor Camarasa and Sean Morrison injury complications Cardiff City are trying to solve

Thursday 21st February 2019

Doubts remain over both Sean Morrison and Victor Camarasa as Neil Warnock provided his Cardiff City team news for the upcoming clash with Watford.

Morrison has been out of action since January 12 after having an appendix operation, while Camaras is being treated with kid gloves having made a comeback from the bench in the 2-1 win at Southampton.

Warnock was asked about both players in his press conference on the eve of Friday night's Hornets clash, revealing Cardiff captain Morrison was back in training.

He also revealed Camarasa was suffering with an ongoing calf injury, though the situation is "complicated" because of the involvement of the player's own Spanish medical team.

Both men appear unlikely to start against Watford.

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Morrison is training," Warnock revealed.

"He had another tough session yesterday (Wednesday) and really he’s just got to have a bit of football in his locker.

"We're not pushing him, but we'll keep talking to him. We've got three games in a week, so it’s pointless rushing him if he's not quite ready. I’m hoping he’s going to be involved at some stage."

With some fans casting doubt over whether Morrison should even get back into the Cardiff team, due to the form of Bruno Manga at centre-back, Warnock gave a resounding endorsement of his skipper.

Morrison was Cardiff's player of the season in 2017/18 after playing an influential role in their promotion to the Premier League.

"He’s our leader, my boy James looks after him, and to turn down an offer from Sheffield Wednesday for £5million and a massive wage increase was an amazing thing," added Warnock.

"He's been pivotal in what we've done since I've been here.

"His commitment has been fabulous, when most people would have run for the money, but he said he felt something special was happening and thankfully something happened in that direction."

On the chances of Morrison returning and where that would leave Manga, Warnock added: "The thing is in football you can look at things and then something happens in training.

"Players get out of the car at the cinema and go over on their ankle or something stupid. These little things have happened in my career, you don't know what's around the corner.

"All I can say is that we're a better squad when Morrison is fit.

"Bruno can play anywhere, the way he's playing at the minute. But I also think (Lee) Peltier has done remarkably well in the last few games, which has helped us.

"Then we've got (Leandro) Bacuna who is desperate to get in and looked sharp in training. It's a good asset that situation.

"My decisions will be scrutinised by yourself and all the fans, they'll have different opinions. The only way I can answer that is if we win."

NEIL WARNOCK:

On Camarasa, who missed Cardiff's games against Arsenal and Bournemouth, but played a vital role as a substitute against Southampton - setting up Kenneth Zohore's injury-time winner - the situation is even more unclear, Warnockk admitted.

"He has a medical team from Spain that look after him, he's had that all his career," said the Bluebirds boss.

"It's a little bit complicated when we're talking to their physios and our physios - and sometimes we don't agree.

"While scans tell you things, I always think a player knows himself if he's fit or not.

"So it's difficult for Victor because he has so many people talking to him and difficult for me.

"If he's fit, he's playing, so it's difficult when they have so many advisers.

"It's so much easier when you've got someone like Sol Bamba who says 'I'm fit gaffer' - even when he's not."

Bamba has been playing through a thigh problem, while Cardiff will hope on-loan Real Betis playmaker Camarasa can shake off his calf problem to feature against Watford on Friday night.

The Bluebirds have games against Everton and Wolves as well, in the space of a week.
