My View/Opinion

CARDIFF DEFENDED WELL & FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER WON BACK TO BACK WINS IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

A fairy tale ending for manager Neil Warnock and his Trojans :thumbright: :bluebird:

Cardiff gave everything in this match and thought they had lost the 3pts in injury time, but thanks to sub Zohore's first goal of the season, City got the 3pts :thumbright: :bluebird:

For the majority of the game City had defend and they did well up and till the 92nd min.

Cardiff are now out of the bottom three :bluebird: :bluebird:

Fantastic away support by Cardiff, who never stopped singing for the whole 90mins :thumbright: :bluebird:

First-half: Southampton controled the first-half and for most of the half Cardiff were on the back foot.

Lee Peltier outstanding in defence :bluebird:

SOUTHAMPTON 1 CARDIFF CITY 2 :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:
Crowd 31,438
Away Support Cardiff (3,200)

Cardiff: Etheridge; Peltier. Manga, Bamba; Paterson, Ralls, Gunnarsson, Arter, Bennett’ Decordova-Reid, Niasse.
Subs: Alex Smithies Leandro Bacuna Victor Camarasa Junior Hoilett Nathaniel Mendez-Laing Josh Murphy Kenneth Zohore

The first 25mins it was constant Southampton pressure and Cardiff were backs to the wall.

Cardiff did have a short period of attacking Southampton, with Bobby Reid making some good runs.

Southampton finished the half as the began it on top.

H/T 0-0 :bluebird:

Southampton continued to control the game.

Warnock made two changes.

Cardiff replaced the Ice Man Gunnarson and Bobby Reid with Leandro Bacuna and Kenneth Zohore.

Then bang 68th min Paterson headed the ball down to Sol Bamba who tapped the ball in and sent wild celebrations with Bamba jumping in to the Cardiff fans section 0-1 :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Southampton's El Younoussi’s mazy run and shot drawing a save by Etheridge and was followed by two big blocks from Peltier, as it seemed certain to go in. What a let off for Cardiff City.

Niasse was replaced by Camarasa.

Backs to the walls for Cardiff again.

But Cardiff conceded a goal in injury time 1-1

Then bang in the last minute Kenneth Zohore got the winner :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

1-2 :bluebird: :bluebird:

F/T 1-1 :bluebird: :bluebird:

Looks like relegation with a record points low is sounding more and more stupid by the week. Lets hope this is the springboard Zohore needs to knock in a few more. Never been his number one fan, but I have a feeling we may be reliant on him knocking a few more in if we are to stay up.

Another fantastic team effort. They just don’t drop their heads. I am really starting to believe we could do this against all the odds. :ayatollah:

At 1-1 we could easily have gone into our shell. Great come back. Amazing back to back wins, well done Warnock and the squad.

Could have felt sorry for ourselves conceding a late soft goal but went after a winner and got it ! Great attitude, need at least 4 points from next 2 games , Saints playing :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

it wasn't a particularly good performance from us.

southampton are a very average side nowadays. they pass the ball about nicely, but once we put men behind the ball they lacked any real cutting edge to grind out chances. they are one of those teams that are nice to play against.

warnock's tactics were spot on again today. he doesn't get anywhere near enough credit for this.

Just home and to concede in 91 minutes and then to score the winner in 94 minutes shows how this side is so together.

It was that togetherness and refusal to go down without a right that got us promoted. We make up for any lack of footballing quality with a never say die attitude

You are right NW has taken some stick this season for his tactics after some results and I have lost count of the number of times I have read he is "out of his depth in the PL" "tactically naive" etc. etc.

My personal opinion is he has performed a near miracle by achieving 25 points from 26 games with the squad we have on paper. Squads have glass ceilings and can only achieve finite outputs but ours is now performing to the maximum week in week out which is frankly incredible when everything is taken into account.

You have predicted that since the beginning of the season. As always I hope you are correct but that means catching West Ham/Everton/Watford who are currently 8 points ahead of us.

I really want you to be right but it will be a hard call. Anywhere from 17th and above will do me but after the most unpredictable season I can ever remember you never know where we will finish.

Neil Warnock knows his players, knows their capabilities and is obviously well aware that we do not have the skills and abilities of players available to the majority of our opponents. He adopts tactics that suit the players that are available to him, and kmows their strengths and weaknesses. I think he has worked miracles to keep us in with a fighting chance of avoiding the drop, and defying the bookies and critics, most of whom had us down as a certainty for relegation, and as we know, even a suggestion of us going down with a new record low points total.

I think most people who criticize him just show their lack of knowledge about the game. As I have said on other threads, being good at football manager on a computer game is not the same as living in the real world. I am sure Warnock would love to see us playing the sort of free flowing football that Liverpool played yesterday. Give him £100m to get those sort of players here, and I am sure his tactics would be completely different. He is without doubt, one of the best managers this club has ever had.
