He died in active service. Some sort of memorial should be done at ground in the months to come. Obviously it would have to be ok by Sala family. I might be going over the top but it's a massive part of our history now. The Sala song and everything else is special to us all. Not forgetting David (pilot) who also had a family.

You say not forgetting David but how is he connected in anyway with our club?

As devastating as it has been I don't think it's appropriate to have a statue outside our stadium as he never played there. It might be better suited in Nantes than here...

Annnnnnddddd.... there it is
Over the years there have been many many players and managers who deserve to have a statue erected outside CCS or stand named after them.
Now don’t get me wrong I’m gutted over this but there are other ways to commemorate Sala and Ibbotson than a statue of a player who, unfortunately, never pulled on a shirt and fan out onto the turf in front of us.

Over the top imo.

That's how I see it. To me, he was a Nantes player. May have been about to become a Cardiff player, but sadly never put on the Blue shirt. Not sure a statue is right for someone who never even trained with the club, let alone played for them.

The tributes have been done, and classy they were from the club and no doubt another minutes silence at Southampton is appropriate. But then its done with for me.

Yes and his song will be sung forever on the terraces

We already have a memorial area where we can remember people connected to the club who are no longer with us on the grass section beside the old Ninian Park gates. A small plaque or something else suitable could be placed there. As already noted a statue would not be appropriate.

I agree. I think the fans have paid their respects to the player and his family in a dignified and manner. After the Southampton game, I think it's time to move on and to allow those family members and close friends to grieve in peace. I think the fans have done everything and more that could have been expected, but you have to carry on as normal eventually, and I believe that time has now come.

I agree with you Annis ! Its gonna take a long time to get over and recover from this for the majority of Cardiff fans ! He will be sung about forever i think !

Rodney,
The past few weeks its like we have got to know Emiliano Sala more than any City player who has ever played for us.
The circumstances were dreadful/awful enough, but I feel many of us have lived through all what has happened 24/7 and its become so close to so many of us, I won't just get over it that easy, nor will many others.
Its become very personnel and even my wife/daughters all speak about Emiliano 24/7.
The whole Spanish communities in Mallorca are talking about him.
It feels like Luke with his comments will just sweep it under his carpet

This is getting f*cking embarrassing

It's a very fine balance and I agree that it's effected me more than I might have expected. Thing is though that you must draw a line under it at some point or you'd go mental and also fail to get on with the stuff you need to be doing.
We never really get over anything like this completely , but that's the reality of life and it's not sweeping it under the carpet to come to terms with what's happened .
I think we must remain sensitive to everyone's feelings and do whatever we can to help those closely effected by the death and preserve the memory of the boy with respect, regret and affection.
None of the more outlandish ideas like building statues will change anything, but if they make anyone feel better then that's okay.
It's very very sad, but many things in life are of course. We must all come to terms with them in our own time and be patient with those who take a little longer, but at the same time I really do think that the general message at this point should be to try and heal because it's not actually helping anyone to keep going over it in their minds, just making the pain last longer.

Obviously ,when I say "you" I don't mean you personally . Should say 'one" really , but I find that expression too pretentious
Fri Feb 08, 2019 2:45 pm
Absolutely correct Sir Jim !! We wont all get over things as quickly as others do, so give those that dont some time. I think that this incident has hit most of us very hard indeed.

mixed up doesn't quite describe it.
we have people wanting to rename the ground , a stand , have a statue of Sala and his dog.
we also have people prepared to go along with the notion he was not a Cardiff player { I doubt anyone with any actual power thinks this, I hope not anyway }

A statue is way over the top and would be disrespectful. End of discussion.
