Cardiff City dismiss claims manager Neil Warnock is about to quit

Bluebirds have described reports saying Warnock will go as 'nonsense'

Wednesday 6th February 2019

Cardiff City have dismissed reports claiming Neil Warnock is on the brink of quitting as manager.

Warnock's future is said to be in doubt, claim The Sun , because the Emiliano Sala tragedy is taking its toll on him.

They say senior Cardiff bosses believe Warnock is eyeing the exit door and the report has been followed up elsewhere.

However, asked specifically about the story on Tuesday night, Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman responded: "It's total nonsense."

He continued: "I was speaking to Neil only 30 minutes ago and we were discussing how the next three games will go.

"We were talking about Southampton this weekend and how Neil plans to build upon the excellent win against Bournemouth and the fine performance away to Arsenal.""But that doesn't mean he's going to quit. We've had no discussions whatsoever of that nature," said Dalman.

The Sun report claims Warnock’s close rapport with with agent and pal Willie McKay, who is said to have been involved in arranging the flight for Sala, has brought strain at the Bluebirds.

Can't disagree, Jack :(

I think they get their info directly from Rydogsccfc, WelshPatriot and grange_end1927 ;)

I'm sure Neil Warnock has privately questioned himself and his future; it would be inhuman not to but why the gutter press and the 'wannabe sleuths' on this and other Forums want to put this stuff out there is surreal and does a disservice to all those involved in what is unfolding as a major tragedy

All stemming from Neil Ashton in The Sun. Somebody's mate has read it text it on, the next forwarded it pretending they're in the know... All Chinese whispers.

Glad its been dealt with properly. The leadership at our club is second to none.

Warnock is so straight and an honest man we would all know before the press, he said the last 2 weeks has been the most
difficult and we can all see that all this sad business has upset the whole club and especially Warnock and he said he questioned his future in football but that is Warnock you will get a straight answer from a question

Most managers are skilled at answering questions like an MP where our gaffa tells them what he thinks , why I have always liked the guy

Neil Warnock has spoken out for the first time after reports that he might quit as Cardiff City boss — insisting that he's fired up for the relegation dogfight.

There had been concerns the Bluebirds manager may walk away with the tragic Emiliano Sala situation taking its toll, with Warnock visibly tearful after his side's 2-0 win over Bournemouth on an emotional night.

But after Cardiff officials dismissed the rumours out of hand, Warnock then reiterated his commitment and "responsibility" to the side he's desperate to keep in the Premier League against all odds.

He has no intention of leaving, especially after his team's "two best performances of the season" against Bournemouth and Arsenal.

"I've spoke to Mehmet Dalman and our relationship is so close, he knows my feelings," Warnock told WalesOnline.

"Over the past few weeks, there have been times when I thought 'is it worth it, being a football manager after all that's happened?'
