Former Cardiff City midfielder Matthew Brazier has passed away at the age of 42 after tragically losing his battle with cancer.

Brazier, who also played for Queens Park Rangers, Fulham and Leyton Orient during a 10-year career, was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Follicular lymphoma in March 2016, and tributes have already been pouring in following the news of his passing.

QPR, the club where Brazier began his career and made his Premier League debut at the age of 19, tweeted: "QPR are saddened to announce the passing of former player Matthew Brazier, who's died at 42 following a brave battle with Non-Hodgkin Follicular Lymphoma.

"Matthew played for the R’s between 1995-1998.

Very sad news, I was under the impression there was hope for Matt with the recent crowd funding but I guess it was to late, RIP Bluebird.

was part of the squad that won promotion in 2000 / 01 from the 4th tier..

Sams first year here and where the recovery from being a lower league club to where we are now all began.

Always looked good going forward,had a lot of quality.
Another sad loss R.I.P. Matt.

Doesn’t seem so long ago I was cheering him on at Ninian Park. I remember him having some great games for us and looking a level above when he initially joined us on loan from Fulham. I will always remember how technically gifted he was with his close control, the ball seemed to stick to his feet like a magnet on occasions. Very sad news for his life to be taken so young. RIP.
