Our support

Mon Feb 04, 2019 6:21 pm

Many years ago in the height of hooliganism the Scots got together after destroying the goal posts at Wembley and decided the only way they could show up the English was to behave ( told this by a Jock) we did the same after the Leeds game when the Rams started self policing. The Jack supporters on Saturday started performing yet again whilst we have received plaudits from many observers and described by the BT Commentator as "class", long may it continue and we show the world we really are a class above other clubs.

I agree.

Shows how far this club has gone. It's well and truly amazing, considering we were well known for hooliganism back in the day. Long may it continue!! :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

We don't need any spasticated thick little yobbos tainting and ruining our club and our sport.
Our players are exemplary professional sportsmen and that ethic is what people should be looking to.
When I was at school I was more or less forced to play rugby and cricket because of the name football had from these scumbags, and I practically had to sneak off to Ninian Park to watch the sport I loved.
On the continent there are University teams but here the football teams at decent schools and (real) universities are marginal if they even exist. I've often wondered how many great athletes thus end up other sports ,but might have been magnificent footballers.
This is a magnificent sport and a magnificent club, and everyone can be part of that of course, but let's make it crystal clear to these knobbers that they're not wanted if they insist on acting like low lifes and bringing their scumbag behaviour into our stadium.
They're bloody pathetic anyway because it's obvious that these are people who only get brave enough to fight when they're part of a crowd and the fact is that they'd quickly get their arses kicked by any normal man if normal men went round attacking people who happen to support another football team.

I'm calm Philly !
Just painting word pictures to make a point and entertain, that's all.
I can do quite rousing speeches on the spot without even necessarily meaning it you know - just flows out to order.
Mind you, I do pretty much mean that stuff above to be fair .

We are from the same era as I started watching in 65 under Schoular and experienced the same as you with headmasters etc. Johnny Owen tells it brilliantly in Cardiff City the movie however we have come a long way and though our stigma from the past is still with us it is great we are now setting the standards for others to follow like the recent report on crime at football stadiums

1 nil County, Dimi must be the worst keeper we have ever had and we have had a few

yes our support has been very good, but we're starting to sound like liverpool with these regular 'we're the best' threads.

if you actually are the best, you don't need to constantly remind people of it.

Great but sad to hear that someone else went through that. I was pretty good at rugby and went on to play for some decent teams actually and everywhere I went, even the forces I was immediately hijacked for the rugby team, ( although it also probably got me through a lot of doors in fairness), but brutal frankness comes as you get old and people are shocked when I tell them that the truth is I never enjoyed a single moment of it. It was a way out of the valley and that's all, and the key to opening doors. I don't do regrets , but when I got the chance to play football I was a reasonable centre half ,( my pinnacle being invited to come and train with Peterborough reserves when I was 42, although of course they didn't initially know how old I was) and I do sometimes wonder whether I could have done okay in football instead if I'd been allowed to.
Side issue I know, and I don't include myself in this, but I wonder how many football talents were strangled by the WRU mafia in South Wales in those days.
