I can think of several players and managers who I'd like to see honoured before that.

Hopefully closure for the families over the next day or so and hopefully it’ll be the same for fans too, awful tragedy as it is.

The best way to honour him is a simple full size picture of him overlooking the pitch at the back of the stand with his number above it. Similar to how they donin America when they retire shirts

Nope. We’ve done enough. Getting ridiculous some of these are.

Totally agree, it's The Canton Stand and should remain so. :bluescarf:

It’s already got 2 names, The Canton Stand and THe USW Stand as the university pay the sponsorship for it to be called that

Rather our next away kit resemble Nantes home kit and maybe see a blue 9 or 27 rim around the arms or something like that.

If you want a Nantes kit go buy one, we’re Cardiff City we’re our own club. I’m all for suggestions but keep them Cardiff related

This is getting sillier by the day. We are talking about someone that virtually nobody on this forum has ever set eyes on, and a player who has never made an appearance for Cardiff. Brian Clark died 8 years or so back. Over 200 appearances for us, probably the scorer of the most famous goal in club history apart from our 1927 FA Cup final goal, and was a regular at Ninian Park for many years after he finished playing. He may not have died in a plane crash, nor was he as young as Sala. He still died far too early, and I'm sure his family considered it to be a tragic loss. I have never heard people suggest a Brian Clark stand, or a friendly against Bristol City, another club for whom he made many appearances.

Is'nt it time to move on now and let his family do the grieving. I can understand how Nantes supporters must feel as well. They saw him play and I am sure many of them had met him personally. He was playing for them virtually right up until his death. I expect most fans posting on here have seen a photo of him, or a bit on youtube, and nothing more. I can't help feeling some people are taking things a bit too far.

good post but a bit pointless.
there is one of these not very good ideas every day, and also half a dozen reading it who do not see why its not a good idea so come up with their own the following day..we have had statues, re naming the stadium, renaming stands, re naming the club, playing with one sub short , submitting a 25 man squad that omits a player to accomodate and replacing adverts {that have been paid for } with pictures.
who knows what tomorrows idea will be

personally i think our club and fans reaction has been spot on. dignified and respectful without being OTT { which is also the view the outside world seems to have of us }.

Nah, put a memorial outside the ground..

I wish we would go back to Ninian Park tho...it was the Admirable Crichton wot gave us the ground..

Deffo no it’s the Canton and that’s the way it should stay. The Phil Dwyer stand would come long before Sala in my view

Let's rename the stadium Lennie Lawrence Park due to him getting us promoted :bluescarf:

I'm seriously getting sick of these seemingly endless and increasingly ridiculous suggestions about this subject.

Forgetting about this latest mental virtue signalling thing though, I've often wondered why we don't raise money by looking for naming sponsorship on stands and the ground itself. Surely this would buy a few players.
If it had still been called Ninian Park then I'd never ever sell that out, but the present name is a bit crap and meaningless anyway. I'm thinking that they must originally have gotten a few bob from Captain Morgan Rum because I expect everyone remembers that logo on the corrugated roof gradually fading over the years.

showing your age mate, yes I do remember it ,and some actually calling that terrace by that name . but was painted over and replaced with HYPERVALUE in the early 2000s and a few years later painted over again with BRACES BREAD

anyway, ive read a few times that Sam gets a percentage of any monies from naming rights { not sure if its still the case }
