Can we name Sala as a substitute

Sun Feb 03, 2019 11:09 am

We have 7 spaces.

I'd like to think that this would be a fitting tribute to name 6 players and Sala in the squad - for the rest of the season

After yesterdays performance I dont think our players need to bond much more than they already have but I think hearing his name called out (amongst the squad) every game will add

Paul, you have always come accross as a good poster to me on here and I say this with no disrespect but that is a ridiculous idea.

Why put ourselves at a disadvantage? We need a full bench every game to give us the best possible chance to change a game if needed.

To do that we would have to register him. To register him means we might be liable to pay (if we weren’t already).

Id rather we retire the number 27 then in the squad list have a picture of a daffodil or an Argentine flag there. No name. We know what it would mean. It's a respectful gesture and doesnt involve us handicapping our match squad.

I would simply retire the shirt number he was supposed to have or the number 27 and always list him as a squad member in our programme and confirmed squad number lists every season.

We could but he would have to be in the 25 man squad literally leaving us with a 24 man squad.
And as posted above only 6 on the bench.
Nice gesture but we can’t put us at any disadvantage.

Some people don't half come up with some shit aye....

So when we're 2 down and need someone to score goals what do we do then... then we got a fit and able player in the stands who won't make the bench.. ludicrous

No offence meant Paul but as a club we really need to move on as hard as it may be

if I suggest naming him in the starting eleven and making it a bannable offence to not chant his name for the whole 90 minutes, do I become the most respectful on the forum

We've paid our respects now. Let's leave the family mourn in whatever way they want.

This is getting ridiculous now.

Could just simply put his shirt on a seat on the bench.
Same thing really.

The more mawkish the suggestions get, the more they get put down, souring the fantastic way the fans and the club has behaved. I honestly thought this was a distasteful joke.

What a load of rubbish this is! For me I’d like to see a poster of him outside the stadium where the Ralls and Hoilett ones are maybe a poster of him holding the shirt

mawkish is spot on im afraid..
as you say our club and fans have been fantastic, and its been noticed and commented on many many times.

this recognition by the outside world is not just about what we did do but also what we did not.

Saturday was spot on. dignified, respectful, honourable. why do people think it should be more ?????????

what was missing ? personally as sad as it was it also filled me with pride .

Admittedly had to google what it meant but mawkish is the exact word to describe how the last few days have been beyond the well delivered tributes at the match itself

I didn't have to google it, but I'd noticed dyskinesia' precise usage of it and made a mental note to accord him a bit of respect, because I do appreciate people using the language in a colourful way. South Wales used to be noted for it you know.
