Neil Warnock doesn't realise cameras are rolling and has some very choice words for Gary Lineker


You'd think that Neil Warnock would be a reasonably happy man after Cardiff's 2-0 over Bournemouth on Saturday, a hard-earned three points against a good Eddie Howe side that could prove crucial for the Bluebirds given their current standing at the tip of the relegation zone.

Well he wasn't. Or at least, he didn't appear to be during a video that was captured with Warnock initially unaware the cameras were actually rolling.

In it, in which he appears to be preparing for a post-match tunnel interview, he says:

"Match of the Day? Tell Gary Lineker to f**k off. Oh, have you caught that on camera? He called me Colin. Can I say 'I'm Colin here'. You don't know why I'm Colin do you? Right."





For those unaware, Warnock has the rather unfortunate nickname of 'Colin' because of the oft-cited anagram of his actual name: 'Colin Wanker'. And as you can see from the clip, the interviewer was wise enough to interrupt Warnock before he was forced to explain the name's origins himself.

There isn't much else to add to this, it's just Colin... sorry, Neil, Warnock being extremely, unapologetically Neil Warnock. This is what he does and this is why we love him*.

Still, let this be a lesson to Gary Lineker and the team at Match of the Day: Nobody calls Neil Warnock 'Colin' and gets away with it.

*love him in the same way we love running our tongues over an ulcer. It hurts, of course it does, but it is still weirdly comforting? Right? Why do we do that? It's mental. Like our unconditional love for Neil Warnock.

Lineker is a disrespectful oik and has taken a kicking in the Press this week over his ill-thought anti-Brexit stance. I'm sure he'll be an MP soon enough; he's certainly thick skinned enough!

Many on here don’t like Lineker mainly for two reasons. Number one is the MOTD running order, which he doesn’t control. The other one is his comments on Brexit - but he’s entitled to his opinion. No rules against BBC Sports presenters publishing their opinions.

Neil Warnock was caught on camera telling Match of the Day host Gary Lineker to "f**k off" after Cardiff's Premier League win over Bournemouth.

The Bluebirds boss was seemingly unaware that he was being recorded, with Warnock having a few choice words for Lineker prior to an interview with BBC's flagship football show.

Warnock said: "Match of the Day? Tell Gary Lineker to f*** off.

"Oh, have you caught that on camera? He called me Colin. Can I say 'It's Colin here'. You don't know why I'm Colin do you? Right."


The clip was recorded by a viewer of Canadian TV and posted onto Twitter.

It all comes from Warnock's comments on Brexit to which Lineker replied on Twitter : "Oh Colin."

Warnock has earned the tag of 'Colin' with many football fans because his full name 'Neil Warnock' is an anagram of 'Colin W***er'.

Warnock had earlier broken down in tears following Cardiff's emotional 2-0 win over the Cherries - their first home game since the disappearance of Emiliano Sala.

Yeah there is actually a rule like that. A local BBC sports reporter was sacked for taking part in a Brexit meeting, and the BBC has received thousands of complaints that he has breached the Charter, which they have chosen to smoothe over.
These are facts, and I do not need to dilute them with opinion, but merely invite people to form their own conclusions.

There are also rules, incidentally, about BBC presenters effectively calling a 70 year old man a wanker, identifying themselves with Advertising or commercial products and conduct which might , correctly or otherwise, reasonably give the impression of political bias on the part of the Corporation. Generally they are enforced with great rigour, but not in this case.

I didn't get the impression that our manager was amused by the abuse he'd received or that he liked the full force of a a huge publicly funded organisation being brought down on him for expressing an opinion which, like that if the majority of voters, is not to the tastes of the political elite and their media echo chamber.

My impression is quite the opposite to the spin you have applied here. In fact, the general public is quite right and certainly justified in objecting to their own money in the form of the licence fee being used to over rule their democratically expressed will. What's more they are quite right to expect the same rules to be applied to all BBC presenters, irrespective of political nepotism or personal feelings.

No, I reject your implication that the victims and justified complainants are the ones to be blamed rather than those who have flaunted the rules and those who have closed ranks to protect a big personality who everyone knows is in the wrong .

It's not the first time the BBC have tried to silence those who complained about a wrongdoer, and the fact that some will tacitly
assist this by comments like yours is not new either, but as we've seen in a more serious case, the tide of opinion and demand for the truth will eventually prevail.

It was tweeted by Mr Lineker in response to Sir Neil's answers to the press about Brexit.
In that tweet he seemed to object to a football manager expressing an opinion,incidentally, although he's insisted that the rules about BBC presenters campaigning for a political outcome don't apply to him because he's " entitled to express his opinion".

As a matter of fact he got overwhelmingly condemned on Twitter for his arrogant and rude comments, and subsequently moaned that the other tweeters were picking on him. Seems he's very keen on his own freedom of speech no matter how rude, ill informed or in contravention of his employment contract it might be, but not so keen on anyone else's right to disagree with him.
