Addiction

Fri Feb 01, 2019 7:30 pm

The transfer window has come and gone many of us will have different opinions on how successful it was or not but one thing most can agree with is that Warnock has to get over his addiction of picking Patterson up front, surely Warnock has to accept that the experiment of playing Patterson up front is well and truly over

I think it's done with now, we have Niasse and Zohore fit and hopefully word can stay fit.

I think we'll still see Paterson up front for a while yet.

The reason being is that every long ball is aimed at his head.

Every goal kick. Every kick out from Etheridge.

Every throw in from inside our own half.

Every long pass out from defence.

All of them aimed at Paterson and Paterson alone.

As our main attacking tactic seems to be to aim for Paterson's head and hope one of his flick on's happens to find one of our players then he'll be playing up front for some time I think.

Like he did against Arsenal by playing him right wing back.

Who is this Patterson? :?

I wouldn't pick him whoever he is; much rather see our star man Callum Paterson in the match day squad ;) :ayatollah:

He served us well last year to be fair to him. I’ll always respect a player who works as hard as he does, but hes no premier league striker thats for sure.

All managers have addictions to something on match days usually it's subs at set time in game regardless of match situation! :o

Re: Addiction

We've had quite a few addictions down the years;

Warnock / Paterson
Trollope / Failure
Slade / anyone in L1/2
OGS / expensive foreign mercenaries
Mackay / Don Cowie
Jones / McPhail

Anyone remember who Lenny Lawrence, Alan Cork and Frank Burrows addictions were?

Don't let the facts get in the way of an Angelis1949 opportunity, nubbsy! ;) :laughing6: :laughing6:

Can't believe this bloody nonsense about Patterson, who's one of our best assets.
He didn't play as a striker because he wanted to or because Sir Neil has some strange compulsion to play him out of position .
We were stuck, and he stepped up to do his best , which he did very very well indeed. Without his goals and assists we'd already be so far adrift that we wouldn't have a realistic hope of staying up.
I don't know what anyone here might expect a full back to do when asked to play as a striker in arguably the worlds hardest league but I think he's done very well and that we should appreciate his efforts and the manager's resourcefulness in thinking of that particular temporary solution

there are plenty of easier targets if they are intent on having a moan, but they've chosen paterson. all of what you said is true, not to mention the important role he played last year.

he's an adaptable player who has done a job, scoring 4 (2 more than reid), and unlike someone like zohore, has seized the chance to play up front for us. he's clearly not a premier league standard striker, but not disgraced himself in terms of quality.
