The 27-year-old joined Wolves back in January 2016 for £3.5million.
He scored seven goals in 39 appearance but never featured under boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
Mason had been on loan with Burton Albion, Colorado Rapids and Portsmouth in the past two seasons.
And before you knock the guy, who did okay for City in his time here (and didn't ask to go) before departing for very good money, have a look at this and remember the joy he brought to so many Cardiff City fans on at least one occasion
