Time for some fans to wake up

Fri Feb 01, 2019 1:50 pm

Getting a little fed up with so called city fans being so negative about the club . For those of us who have supported the team for over 40 years we are in dreamland
If we do not come last in the division it will be our highest league finishing position in 57 years ( yes we could be relegated ) but that is nothing new
We have spent nearly £50 million in transfers this season ( Sala included) we wanted a Tan to spend I think he had with wages I bet the costs are closer to £ 70 m
Average crowds over 30,000 . In the 80s we were lucky in a few seasons to get 100,000 through the turnstiles for a whole season
Modern stadium ( some may not see that as a positive )
Manager who has the support of the vast majority of fans

We may be playing in the championship next year but that is football and especially being a city fan ,we love the rollercoaster ride
I don’t think things are that bad

I feel the same way. I expect some of the negative fans have never seen us play outside of the Premier League.

Absolutely correct, except that it'd be a shame, as much for the sake of all those years of unrewarded hard work as anything else, to waste this opportunity. Even given these marvellous achievements , we can and should progress. You can't get away from the fact that we've missed a trick or two this season, although we've also been unlucky - not least in terms of recent tragic events.
I think we could and should have taken the opportunity to establish our position a bit better really, but I agree entirely that what has been achieved far outweighs this and that some silly people have had an entirely unrealistic view of how hard it would have been in any case.
It's still quite possible to avoid relegation , but it's looking harder. Either way, you're absolutely right that we must persist and rebuild in that event.
I keep thinking that if it's possible for what are on the face of it smaller clubs like Bournemouth and Watford to become established in the premiership , then it should be possible for us as well. If we do go out though, I don't think we can expect to bounce straight back up.

Fully agree, I'm watching Cardiff City, my hometown club in the PREMIER LEAGUE, dreamland after years of travelling to Scunthorpe, Cambridge and the like.

I think that some of our fans also need to wake up and realise we are no longer little old Cardiff City.

We are a pretty big club playing in a pretty big stadium in the biggest league in the world.

Over the last 10 years this club has left that small team mentality behind , time some of our fans did the same

I'm with the OP but also a very good counter argument. Meeting somewhere in the middle would be perfect.
