Curaçao international Leandro Bacuna has today joined the Bluebirds from Reading for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.

The 27-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal that will run until the summer of 2023.

Bacuna spent four years at Aston Villa, leaving hometown side Groningen in 2013. He can play at right full-back, or as part of the midfield, and joins from the Royals having spent eighteen months at the Madejski Stadium. Leandro was born in the Netherlands and played for their national teams up until U21 level before being capped by Curaçao for the first time in 2016.

Speaking upon signing at Cardiff City Stadium on Thursday afternoon, Leandro said: “A few weeks ago, I was made aware of some interest and it has all gone from there. I’m very happy and looking forward to getting started.

“Every game I play I give 100%, and I’ll be fighting hard to help our team. I’ve played against the manager and you can see he always wants to win. He is so passionate. It’s going to be great to work underneath him and hopefully he will push me on as a player.”

I think he'll be a hit. Got a good feeling about this one.

If he's as good as Joe Bennett on the other side I'll be happy.

A natural right sided player who knows the English league well rather than chancing on someone from the French leagues .

Nice and strong and can whip a decent cross in , we've been crying out for a rightback for nearly two seasons now . Happy with this bit of business

Jazz is a crock and Pelts is a liability . Good signing for the club this

I was under the impression he was a midfielder?

welcome to cardiff greatat set pieces and can score just what we need defo an upgrade to manga at right back

He is a good player
The problem is he is a championship level player and not a improvement on what we have in my opinion at right back.

This seems to be a desperation buy. He definitely would not have been 1st choice . He probably wasn't even on the list and just became available.

Hope he does well but I can still see Manga starting ahead of him.

He will be another Cunningham

My 7 year old son says "he's cool"

So that's sorted. Arguments over.

Well, all the better right backs turned us down. At least he wanted to come.

Yeah we obviously put the feelers out on back up options incase our main targets said no.
Nobody can pretend to be underwhelmed with this signing. We are in the premier league and need better

At the point of almost not caring if he is any good  We where desperate for a right back, and we got one :ayatollah:
Wery welcome!

clearly he was some way down the list of RBs after clyne and toure both rejected us.

from what i've seen, he's an average player, but still an improvement on peltier. manga isn't a right back.

it was essential we signed someone in that position, so better than nothing. looking forward, if we do go down he's the sort of player that could do a good job for us in the championship.

I disagree with the better than nothing comment.
He is costing over £3mill
Would rather give a kid a chance than just buy for the sake of buying and go with Peltier

We have signed a utility player instead of two dedicated positions

Im other words we have signed another Peltier

I like the fact that he likes and respects Warnock, and he seems keen to do well, I think Warnock will get the best from him. :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

he's more technical than peltier. remember he scored an excellent free kick against us when we were last in the PL (though that's years ago now).

the 4.5 year contract is too long though. he'll be 31/32 by that time.

and by the way, £3m in this day and age is peanuts in the premier league. we aren't in the championship any more.

No we are not but we are still obviously shopping there and could name quite a few right backs at that price i would prefer in that league
