Cardiff City have seen their proposed move for Monaco defender Almany Toure fall through after he rejected their offer to join the club, Football Insider understands.
Cardiff had opened talks with Monaco over a possible deal for the Mali defender as they look to bolster their defensive options before the close of the transfer window.
However, a source close to the club has told Football Insider that Toure has snubbed the interest from Cardiff and the news is a major blow for Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock as he desperately looks for defensive reinforcements before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Toure, who has come through the ranks at Stade Louis II, has found himself out of favour at Monaco this season, making just five appearances so far the Ligue 1 club.
The 22-year-old is out of contract at Monaco this summer and the French club would prefer to cash-in on him now rather than risk allowing him to run down his contract and leave for free at the end of the season.
Warnock has made a new right-back one of his top priorities during this month’s transfer window and he missed out on Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne who opted for a loan move to Bournemouth over Cardiff.
Warnock is now set to intensify his search for new defenders in the next 24 hours to try and bring in some new faces before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday night.

No idea but as he is originally from Mali you would think not.

To be perfectly honest I’m glad this fell through, we got Bacuna instead, a player who has played PL football and can score goals at this level. I know not many will agree as seen on other posts.
