A forum for all things Cardiff City

Whilst checking out the best and worst signings of a January window (BBC website), I came across the name of Papiss Cisse, formerly of Newcastle. It made reference to his audacious banana shot at Stamford Bridge, a goal I consider to be one of the greatest of all time.
It got me thinking of those goals that truly fall into the same category as Cisse's effort. My personal favourite has to be Ibrahimovic's 30 yard bicycle kick against England (even sweeter lol), a goal which a prosaic description can never do justice. Maradona's mazy dribble against England had for me been the No.1 until Cisse's and Ibra's efforts come along.
A mention has to be given to Trevor Sinclair's 20 yard bicycle kick against Barnsley and for anyone old enough to remember it, Peter King's wondrous volley against Middlesbrough in the late 60's.
I'm sure many on here will have their on views on the truly great goals they have seen.

Been many over the years such as Beckhams long range effort against WHU, Rooney’s bicycle kick against Man City but the best for me has got to be Roberto Carlos’s free kick for Brazil against France in ‘97

Always one that sparks conversation and on any given day we could all come up with various different favourites.
The one I plump for most often was a Whittingham special against Barnsley. If that had been scored in the Premier, La Ligue, etc., you would have seen it over and over again. He scored many a screamer but that was special.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNJcYNJl2QAMind you, Hudson against Derby from 60 yards will live long in the memory

Carlos Alberto, Brazil's 4th goal in 1970 World Cup Final.

For some reason that goal did not ring a bell with me so I checked it out on YouTube. Wow, what an effort !!
The Cisse and Ibra's goals are still my favourites, possibly because I've never seen their like before, both of them are unique.
That's not to put down Ramsey's goal, which by any standards is pretty special

Some of Whitts goals were magical but for me John Buchanan super long range against the jacks still makes me swear (in a good way)
I know other teams play football so if I made a non city selection Van Baston against USSR (I believe) or Bergkamp playing for Holland are in my Favs

I allways seem to remember Wayne Rooneys volley . I think it was against Newcastle when he was arguing with the referee then turned round and volleyed it into the top corner.
Paulo DiCanios Scissor kick volley for West Ham
Yakubu for Leeds off the crossbar
Jay Jay Okocha running from his own penalty box for Bolton passed 5/6 players then chipping the keeper

Everyone missed Fan Zhiye's ? Goal against Palace at Ninian Park in a Reserve game.
That has to go down as World Class.

Peter Whitts against Boro in the fa cup run anyone?

The Peter King volley against Middlesbrough was the one that sticks most in my mind from the games I watched at Ninian Park. Nine times out of ten for most players that would have ended up on Sloper Road, but that one just curled perfectly into the net. Jurgen Klopp scored a couple of good volleys in his time as well. So many to choose from, and some fantastic goals already included in this thread.

Was that the impossible free kick? Where it seems to curl in two different directions before going in.

That Roberto Carlos free-kick is up there IMO
