Why is Paterson playing?

Others like Murphy and NML could replace him, NML looked great when coming on hence the reason he scored
He just runs and heads the ball hopes to flick it on but never works, no footballing talent, wasted two great chances to score or assist others
Sunday league player at ST, stick him at RB or on the bench
Waste of space in the starting 11, warnock to loyal to him

Totally agree I asked the same question last night. I like Pats but he's not good enough up front in the premier league.

I don’t think he’s good enough in any position this season. Yes, he wins loads of headers but I think we’d be better off playing NML on the right and aim goal kicks st him. Imho.

Couldn't understand when him and Hoilett played last week why most the long kicks were aimed at Hoilett.

He was one of our best players last night and has been one the best all season long.

Watched the whole game, you can say excellent in the air but it goes nowhere, another chance he cut in from the right with Niasse and Reid in front of goal and he booted it wide.

He made one or two wronf decisioms but had a decent game. Worked his socks off too. I would like to see natural wingers out wide though.

NML gave the ball away a lot.

Paterson was right wing back and played well.

NML was winger in a 433. If we played NML or Murphy as wing backs we would get murdered.

Unbelievable post !!! Callum was brilliant last night. I'm guessing you didn't go to the game based on this evidence. Every ball he won in the air was a ball Arsenal didn't win. It disrupted the Arsenal passing game to good effect but I think the main reason he was there was to nullify kolasinac. He broke through into the box once and earned a penalty so proves what a threat he is. He regularly breaks into the box against other teams and Patterson did a great job helping to prevent it. Pattersons shots on goal weren't great I admit but at least he had a go. Great performance...poor post

he's popped up with important goals to win us points.

he's been a constant aerial threat when he's played, and stepped in to a position that he doesn't usually play, in the premier league.

he works extremely hard, look at his goal against southampton. he's played a lot of football this season, and playing up front for us is a thankless task.
