No other option than to go with niasse and hope zohore regains fitness and form a right back and another midfielder just as important

Think we will go with what we have got just due to the timings and logistics of the transfer deadline

Putting aside the last weeks horrendous tragedy and just speaking about football, we are desperate for a right back, (which should have been brought into the club in the summer) a midfielder and of course a striker/goal scorer, i can see the first two coming in but because if the sensitivity behind it i cant see us going for a striker. If we know have to go with what we've got then we are certain to go down.

4 & 1/2 more days til the window shuts, still plenty of time to do some business

Hoping things are being done behind the scenes but out of respect if someone is brought in l would think the club would make it very low key

I sincerely hope that things have been progressing discretely in the mean time and through the crisis. If not then we are in the position that Sir Neil has always said we mustn't ever be - having to buy anyone we can get.
My logic here is that we know that in some positions what we've got definitely isn't good enough, and therefore all we can do with four days to go is take the chance that someone else will be. If that means lower league players with potential, so be it.
I don't generally critisise things like this, but if we've allowed the tragedy we've suffered to stop us doing what we've known to be necessary for survival in this league, that's very poor general management. It's a very good excuse as excuses go, but excuses won't help us win games, which we must.
A right back and a midfielder are essential , a striker is important. If we can't get a striker at this stage,( and we must officially ask for an extension to do so ), then we must use Murphy and Reid to support Niasse in a spearhead and hope that works, which it very well might because they have the ability even if stamina is questionable .

Id rather see us focuss on a CDM and RB now we have niasse and hope zohore comes back firing.

Why officially ask? The media made a play earlier in the week stating that Cardiff asked for an extension which Ken Choo denied and the FA categorically stated that even though they feel for Cardiff’s situation they cannot and will not bend the transfer deadline rules for them.
Therefore the transfer paperwork must be in before 11pm on the 31st including any extension that is needed to wrap a deal up as we all know that one happens (normally for personal terms and medical).
We also know NW will not go for anybody if they are not improving the squad or in his words ‘not better than what I have now’
I hope the Tameze deal is still back on, there was also talk of a young Toure (defender) so fingers crossed they have somebody working hard to get these or a couple of other deals done

Despite the usual press speculation and embellishments of a non story, the most credible reports I saw were that the FA comment upon the matter was that Cardiff City had not applied for an extension or variation. Of course we can't be sure who's being accurate. It'd probably be a more compelling application if they could show that they'd tried to replace the player in the mean time of course.
I absolutely take your point about Sir Neil's established position upon panic buys and I agree with him completely , but sometimes we face extraordinary and unexpected circumstances and if it's a case of a small chance of it working against no chance with the existing players then the choice is obvious and clear .
We're in a sticky situation one way or another here, but I think we must take all possible measures to get away with it. If we end up with a couple of extra players who aren't up to it we can always sell them on, and that will be the least of the problems.
Obviously it'd be better to get good players but if that's gone wrong with four days to go we must at least do something because it's the definition of insanity to repeat the same thing over and over again and expect a different outcome.

Totally agree with you, just don’t see the point wasting money on players who are not good enough, we’ve currently got a few of them on the books at the moment

Let's not forget we brought in Niasse in who I think most would have been happy with at the start of the window.
I think if we can bring in a midfielder and a defender that would be a good window considering everything.

If we sign another striker or not its imperative that Warnock doesn't play Patterson up front

Southampton listening to offers for Austin. Love to see him here would fit in perfect and just wants to play regularly

Like others, I’m hoping there’s plenty of work going on in the background. Ken Choo hinted at such. We’re clearly in a very challenging time as a club but we must not go down without fighting with all we can, including in the last few days of the January market

I'm a bit worried that the subject wasn't even mentioned in the press conference today. We're all well aware of the tragedy which we've suffered , but that's not an excuse to give up. I shall feel very let down if we miss the opportunity to stay in the Premiership by not signing the players we need.
We've known about this for a long time and I'm surprised that any deals are being left until the last minute

I think NW hinted several times before xmas about how many staff we lacked compared to other clubs.
The lack of support to NW ref scouting I believe has taken toll on him, he is 70 after all.
We need to look at our staffing come what may at the end of the season, DOF perhaps for NW as a start if he decides to step down.
