What's the best case scenario for this 'Rescue' mission?

Sat Jan 26, 2019 4:45 pm

When I say best case scenario, I'm not talking about the possibility that he is still alive because it's practically impossible, when you consider every island he could have made it to, and the fact that the 'raft' possibility would have come to light by now. Every possible outcome for him to be alive has been exercised now.

But at what point does this search come to its climax?

If the rescue /recovery team find something that either may have or definitely did come from the aircraft, what happens? Do they carry on searching?

I might be wrong but I think bodies initially sink, and then after a few days tend to float because of something to do with gasses and what not. So is this search just relying on finding the eventual floating bodies? Because even then, there's still a chance they were trapped inside the plane and may never come out.

I just feel like, I understand Emiliano's family has paid for a private search, but surely with it being literally impossible for Emiliano to be alive, the private rescue team should have some decency and regretfully decline the request. I don't know, I just feel like this is only going to result in either the same outcome of finding nothing, or 'best' case scenario, finding something that indicates the plane crashed. I think the bodies should have come to surface by now if they were going to.

It just feels wrong idk.

I know his sister still thinks he alive in which he maybe, but I think at the end of the day even if they find them dead. It would be some closure for the family's and everyone else.

I think the majority of people are treating this as a recovery mission now and not a rescue mission unfortunately. Best case scenario now is that the 2 bodies are found and both families can have some sort of closure. Burying an empty casket must be a horrible feeling so some tiny bit of peace for the families is what will hopefully come from this.

Not being pedantic but Best case scenario (however unlikely, even 99.9% against) has to be that they’re found alive.
I do agree that for most it’s s recovery mission though sadly.

The best case scenario is they have somehow made it to one of the 12 islands.

Given they were miles past the last island when they went off radar it is very unlikely they made it to safety. The fact there is no wreckage points to the plane going down in one piece. Probably with both men on board.

The area they were lost is very deep but could be anywhere after that point in a sea covering over 29k square miles.

The likelyhood unfortunately is that they will probably never be found or will only be found by luck in the coming years.
