Yesterday they said yes it had been extensively searched.

So what was the flares then coming from over there? Something don't add up.

You see all sorts of stuff at sea at night. Could easily be smugglers signal and they went quickly when they saw helicopters. Could be a nutter making a false report , imagining it or misinterpreting what they'd seen.
I'm certain they'd have checked it out properly, and they'd only need to overfly it with a heat seeker to eliminate the presence of humans or large mammals

Not sure if you saw the photos Jimmy, but they were not the trails left by flares. There was a large distance between the trails, and to be honest I'm not sure if the old Saturn 5 rockets would have left a trail as big as those. I have a feeling that photo was a hoax.
