A forum for all things Cardiff City

I'm fully aware this may sound pathetic as well as many other words that could come to peoples mind. But I'm just desperate for us to do something like this, and I feel this may fit.
Cardiff City Stadium is a name I'm proud of because we haven't just changed it to a crap name just due to sponsors who wave their pay cheque at us.
As proud as I am of it, it's ofcourse very basic.
What sort of consideration would the club /Vincent and whoever concerns for this to be talked about? Would it be disregarded straight away or is there an actual possibility a stadium name could be changed very simply?
I don't have a name for us, but I would love nothing more than to give Emiliano's prescence at Cardiff some sort of legacy, for the player he could have, should have, and I truly believe would have been.
I've seen so many great and heartfelt suggestions about retiring a certain kit number for him, or to somehow include his initials on our kit sleeve. But I'm thinking bigger and something that will at the very least last a few years.
Like I said, I haven't really thought about the actual name I'm trying to suggest, but Emiliano Stadium or anything like that, obviously I'm sure there can be some sort of compromise that still keeps our identity whilst honoring his name.
Go easy on me, I'm well aware the obvious reply would be "No that's too much" and that I'm being naive. But I ask if you immediately think that, can you just give it a second thought.
Based off the search being called off I think it appropriate to now say RIP Emiliano, your loss has effected me more than I could have possibly imagined. I've genuinely taken this so bad and almost feels like I've lost a member of my family, not to mention the bluebird family. x <3

Afraid it would be a big no from me. As tragic as this is, he has only ever spent a couple of hours in Cardiff. I could understand Nantes possibly doing something, but I think the way things are progressing, it's only a matter of time before someone suggests we change Wales to something different. I am as gutted as every other fan, but I can't help feel some are going a bit too far. Perhaps it's just me, I could never understand the outpouring of grief when Princess Diana died, with people who had only ever seen pictures of her crying as if it was a close member of their family. Maybe I'm just not as sensitive as the younger generation.

No

I get where you are coming from savigma. I don't agree or disagree. It would be an amazing way to honour him but I feel that should be something for Nantes to consider. A nice permanent banner within the stadium would be more suited. We all feel the grief together and it's a terrible time in our history. Nice thought though fella

Do we have to do all these grandiose gestures?
Grieve, do right by his family, and pay respects at the stadium.

Probably a bit too much for a player who never played for us, if I’m honest. Certainly the kind of huge gesture I think Nantes fans would be after from their own club though, were it an option.
For me, we should declare what number Sala was going to wear, and retire it with immediate effect.

A step to far, no doubt the club will arrange a classy tribute.

A huge flag with a picture of sala hung at the back of the stand for the rest of the season would be a nice touch.
Would be like he was here for the fight against relegation

The last paragraph of you're post worries me to be honest.
To feel like that about a stranger isn't normal mate to the point you say it almost feels like you have lost a member of you're family.
I'm not being funny here, if you realy feel like that I think you may have an underlying issue and I would definately urge you to talk to someone.

This is a reasonable idea actually.
As others have said he was only in the city a matter of hours, never played for us. It’s FC Nante I’m sure that will do something appropriate.
I would suggest a modest plaque of some sort at the Ninian Park gates / Memorial Garden.

I really don't mind what we do as long as we do something, and that it's fitting for Sala and his family.

Don't take this the wrong way please, what is fitting for the families of both emiliano and the pilot,is to not R.I.P them just yet,and hold on to that small possibility that they are alive, until they,or we are told differently,a large flag with his smiling face at the ccs,is a good idea in my opinion, looking down on his teamates and his fans alike, evoking his hard working likeable character

Absolutely not taken the wrong way. We're all in this together

He should go up on the stadium at the main entrance and a permanent flag of him within the stadium for the rest of the season at least, also that banner I hope is permanently up in the stadium

Not at all I think you are sensible.
I was gutted Tuesday and still am. But seeing some of the craziness on this MB. Wow.

This whole situation has taken on the internet "bandwagon jumper" "look at me I'm sad" status. I'm still affected by the awful news but paying respects quietly and respectfully is the way forward

A little bit yes but also making us look stupid.
There’s something to be said for the quiet, respectful and most of all dignified response to something like this.
