Parents of young kids dealing with loss

Thu Jan 24, 2019 12:20 pm

This will be the first time many young fans have been touched by grief at such a personal level. We all affected but it can be a traumatic experience for small ones. My youngest is very cut up about it.

I just want him found now so the family can take him home.

My 10 year old, said to me that no one will know him on those islands so he’s probably just walking around somewhere working out how to get to Cardiff... he’s come in for cuddles more in the last few days than ever.
I’m sure like many, he’s been walking around singing the Sala song for a couple of weeks. Amazing how attached we all became to him in a short space of time.

Exactly the smae here with my 14 year old step son. He's been following the Emiliano transfer since the initial rumours and was just so excited to see him play once he'd signed for us. He bought him on his FIFA team too but has since deleted the team as he's just so upset. Constantly asking for reassurance that Sala will be found alive and that there is still hope but I'm afraid I'm struggling to give him that reassurance mow.
He's also very quiet but we're all supporting him as he tries to learn to deal with the grief. :(

My 6 year old was also so excited to see him next week.

He did tell me not to worry because Patterson is awesome (his favourite player) but has been asking constantly if he's been found.

It's heartbreaking situation, we have all been built up and knocked down over the weeks over this transfer and having the excitement he finally signed to this sad news.

Gut wrenching

Yea my 9yr old got upset yesterday. Tried to not let him know but he loves reading about football and anything to do with Cardiff. He said to me today that in school they all think he will be found friday and that he don't want to talk about it till then
