Whatever happened to Darcy Blake

Sat Jan 12, 2019 8:25 am

Does anybody know whatever happened to Darcy, I understand he liked a good sesh on a night out, a bit of the Charlie chalk and a few drinks, so much promise spunked up the wall, last time I saw him was last year in Cardiff with is daughter, both wearing Liverpool shirts which surprised me considering he was a true blue.

Such a fall from grace, if he had right mentor he may have been playing for us in the Prem, Warnock will get him shipshape, give him a call Neil :laughing5:

My cousin had to release him from the windows job as he wasn’t turning up on a Monday after a good weekend.

He’s a good friend of our family who I’ve known since he was a child and is a top bloke. He’s obviously had issues over the years as no one ‘just chooses’ to throw away the wage he was on, but despite this seems to be getting his life back on track.

He attended a game with me last season and joined us in the Canton Stand. I jokingly said “do you know how to operate the turnstile” and he replied “the last time I came to this stadium I was playing for Wales” which sums things up really.

The last time I saw him he informed me he was playing for Aberbargoed Buds and my facial expression must have highlighted my thoughts as he jokingly said “don’t judge me, I’m player-manager I’ll have you know.”

He’s happiest around his friends and spending time with his young Daughter. He’s a genuine bloke who unfortunately found the mental aspect of being a professional footballer too much.

Yeah don't think I've heard a bad word said about Darcy and you can tell he's a likely lad, and in all fairness when he was with his daughter in Cardiff they both looked happy, its good to hear he's doing alright for himself

He found Dave Jones particularly hard to work with and was a massive admirer of Gary Speed both from a professional perspective and as a person.

His cousin Tim Blake played for Coventry when they were in the top flight during the early nineties - as well as various age groups for Wales - before his career was cut short through injury at just 19 years of age and he often provided guidance. Unfortunately, if someone is bleeding from the arm the blood provides a visual indicator, but mental health is different.
