A forum for all things Cardiff City

Bluebirds boss has clarified that it was Cardiff City's decision to pull out of a move for Nice's Adrien Tameze.
Warnock has revealed that Cardiff's business looks like it could go down to the wire, while he mentioned that he's been given over 2,000 names in terms of targets.
Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock admits his January transfer dealings could go right to the very last day after a move for £10m French midfielder Adrien Tameze fell through.
The Bluebirds pulled out of the deal for the highly-rated Nice star, having initially understood to have offered £8m with a further £2m based on extras such as appearances.
Cardiff’s decision comes hot on the heels of Liverpool and England right-back Nathaniel Clyne opting to join Bournemouth on loan instead of the Bluebirds, who thought they had landed their man.
Warnock and his scouting team have had more than 2,000 names thrown at them since September as they plan their January moves in a bid to bolster the Bluebirds’ battle against relegation.
Warnock has targeted three new players - a striker, midfielder and defender - and is looking to use possibly two loan options.

Two thousand names.. was that just a flippant remark by Warnock? If not, then our scouting network is in serious need of an overhaul!
His scouts should be providing him with a shortlist of realistic and serious possibilities of players to sign - not something that reads like a telephone directory!
"down to the wire" ..waiting until the end of January might prove too late.

2000 names and we can't find 1 good enough to sign or even wants to sign. He states that some players out there are no better than what we have. He states when Zohore is fit there is no one better. Come off it Sir Neil, he is a lazy tw## who is being paid good money to do F A.

100% agree Bluesman but we so called "negativos" have to realise Zohore coming back into the fold as "no one better" - which anyone who watches City play on a regular basis will know is a status Zohore is as far away from as frogs are from feathers - will be used to take the disappointing edge off the list of usual excuses come the end of the window; i.e. no one better available within our budget, no one willing to come here etc. etc.
We are in the Premiership - we need to stay in the Premiership - we need to establish ourselves in the Premiership - we need to speculate at this stage and money talks if we are to succeed in recruiting the quality we need. Yes it means taking a chance but life is about taking chances, otherwise what's the point?

I think it was said in jest.
And u fortunately unless you got big bucks and are a very attractive club then last minute business is the only option: players holding out for better offers, agents holding out for bigger fees, clubs waiting to get cover before they let players go. It's shit but it is what it is.

Probably a flippant remark, but I do think our scouting is crap and has gone down hill the the last 10 years or not even improved at all .

I dont undetstand how Warnock can act as if we are the only club that gets shafted. We made an offer, unsettled a player then welshed on the deal. hmmm

So looks like we go with what we got against Huddersfield and Newcastle then ....
Need Zohore fit and ready to start playing as we can’t keep relying on Paterson to keep bailing us out and our system doesn’t suit Reid up top on his own . Ward got hit in the face , not sure what the result of his scan was on Monday ?
Need at least 4 points from next 2 game in my opinion

Seems to be a few members of this forum who have insider knowledge as to what is being discussed during these transfer negotiations. Makes you wonder who is releasing information that you would expect to remain private.
Could be a 101 reasons why a deal failed, but it is worrying to hear if we made an offer to unsettle a player before welching on the deal. I just hope we make similar offers to all the Huddersfield players before the weekend arrives.

nothing to do with our scouting or telephone directories. its agents doing their jobs by recommending their clients to various employees involved with recruitment at our club. no doubt every other club gets it the same ,and no doubt the agents of Tomlin, Pilks, Madine, O Keefe and Healey have all been bugging other clubs to take them on loan.
I doubt it is actually 2000.but that's an example of who is out there, people unwanted where they currently are.

Players would rather be living in london on 100k a week it’s so hard for club like cardiff to attract players we offer South Wales and around 30k a week while in a relegation battle

I believe he has been given 2000 names, players agents will have been contacting the club constantly pushing their men forward...

read the report. 'Cardiff pulled out of a deal.' what does that imply? And what's the difference between us and other clubs. I thought we were a different club to the rest. That we acted with 'class'

Can't really fault Warnock he constantly knows how's to save his back when it comes to these situations.
The old 'It go down to the wire/last day' it's just to save his own back so if we do end up not getting what we need then there won't be any backlash because he said that he hadn't promised anything.

Its obvious most decent players wont want to sign for us unless they have few other options, it was always going to be towards the end of the window unless your buying from the championship

very anti Cardiff but really not surprised tbh..
anyway what Warnock was referring to when saying lack of class was that having agreed with both player and club ,neither then picked the phone up to him and instead he found out by watching SSN. and seeing as the other club were the source of this { REPORT } not informing them is NOT the case here .
and what does pulling out of a deal imply ? it implies we were not totally happy with some of the things either the other club or the player were demanding..ITS IN THE REPORT.

Obvious to most, but always a small handful who can't see it. Some of our fans appear to think we are a Barcelona, Real Madrid or Man City. We will be right at the back of the queue when players are deciding which is their preferred club. Like you say, we will be getting our players towards the end of the window once the players in question have exhausted all their other options. The only players who would jump at the chance of coming here are the players currently in the lower divisions. The quality players will leave it until the end before they opt for the likes of us or Huddersfield, unless Warnock can use his magic and convince them that this club is destined for bigger things.
