Another possible deal collapses to Cardiff?

Wed Jan 09, 2019 7:11 am

Neil Warnock's search for new additions goes on as attention turns towards a Premier League six-pointer this weekend.

The clash with Huddersfield is crucial to Cardiff City's hopes of staying up, but so too are new signings in the January window.

And, on that front, the Bluebirds are yet to make a move.

Warnock said that one player had "almost agreed terms" with the club, with that player looking likely to be Nice's Adrien Tameze.

However, reports emerging last night have suggested that the move for the Nice midfielder has now collapsed after Cardiff allegedly withdrew from negotiations.

There is likely to be plenty more on that one today.

Efe Ambrose, Victor Moses and Emiliano Sala have also been linked with moves to south Wales and there could also be developments on those fronts too.

The one thing I heard was that the club have been insisting on relegations clauses in salaries ( which I think is correct) if we were in mid table I don’t think this would be an issue for the players However I was told this has been a big issue for a number of potential signings especially in the position we are both now and at the beginning of the season being favs to go down

In one way it is annoying but too many clubs have paid to high salaries when relegated and as I have supported the club for over 40 years I have the longer term interest in the club and think if the club are doing this then I have no issue

Agree with you. The future of this club stretches way beyond the end of this season. Tan wanted this club to be debt free by 2021. That gives him just under three years at most, and while that may be being a bit ambitious, he won't achieve his target paying PL salaries if we are a Championship side. Be great to spend loads if survival was guaranteed, but unfortunately nothing is guaranteed as Fulham have proved in the first half of the season. Gamble big and fail, and we could soon find ourselves playing lower league football again, in which case, a lot of the club's big critics would vanish as quickly as they arrived when we started to get a bit of success.

I would assume that along with salary reductions on relegation comes sell on clauses at a reasonable amount.

Club and player then have get out clauses.
