What if?!

Tue Jan 08, 2019 8:04 pm

The forum has been such a hard read recently due to all the negativity, and people expecting everything to happen so quickly. So to all the people constantly skating the Club/Warnock/Tan I pose you a question.

What if god forbid we splashed out all this money or got all these signings in that you want, and they all flop or do not have the desired effect?
The reason I ask is there is nothing guaranteed if we splash the cash. Also for the people wanting signings done already some deals take weeks to complete, and circumstances change all the time. Could swear the club is not even trying with some of th comments. Just enjoy the season, and remember it’s Cardiff we support not the big guns.

What if we go down
(Maybe a couple of points in it)

Get relegated. Players leave WARNOCK goes
Struggle In champ
Get relegated again
Lose any atmosphere in stadium far less than half full etc.

That's a what if too???

What's wrong with some of us fans being
Ambitious for our club?

Seeing our club win tropheys
Seeing our club in Europe
Seeing us become an established club able to attract class
Seeing quality football on a Saturday

Why does it gave to only be man u, Chelsea, Scouse etc??

What is so wrong with us fans dreaming of success ehh??

So you’ve answered my question with another question?

Maybe before posing a question answer the one asked to you first. I want our club to be successful, we all do so that’s a silly comment. For us to do what you say regarding Europe and stuff it requires a lot of money, which we do NOT have.
So I’ll ask my question again, what if we spend all this money that we may not have and hey don’t have the desired effect?

We end up with Russell Slade :-)

The problem is the average fan does not look at football from a business sense. They have no idea of long term business strategy and look no further than the end of the season. Tan has made it clear what he wants. He has said he wants the club to be debt free by 2021. Personally, I doubt if this will happen, but he has a fine balancing act between gambling enough money to give us a fighting chance of staying up, and taking a bigger gamble of spending a lot of money which still only gives us a fighting chance of staying up.

You can see from some of the posts that there are fans who would be happy for him to take a big gamble, put all his eggs into one basket, and just hope we avoid relegation by taking this approach. If we do this, and still fail, there is no real thought as to what happens next. We have a rough idea though, having been down that road before. It is almost like a boom or bust approach with the attitude of who cares, Tan can just write millions more off our ever growing debts if the gamble fails.

The last thing he will want is to see the debt increase, while still ending up in the Championship. I'm just glad he is the one with the problem, because it won't be easy for him to win either way. Easy enough for us fans to advise him how to spend his money, but I bet he will a lot more careful than most on here are hoping he will.

Most average football fans in wales support
Man u, Liverpool, Chelsea, spurs and arsenal.

And

Leeds!
Why Leeds- fans in wales of a certain age support them-
they had success in top league
Many many many years ago in 1970s

They also had they're what if
They spent and got relegated to

Many seasons in lower leagues
Failed but guess what
THEY ARE STILL A MASSIVE CLUB

WHY?

BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY HAD SOME
SUCCESS AT THE TOP IN OUR LIFETIME
(and the fans stuck with them)

proof that ambition and failure are
Admirable

But no ambition gets you nowhere

IT'S BETTER TO HAVE TRIED AND FAILED
THAN NOT HAVE TRIED AT ALL

Football is a business
The best businesses are nan u and real Madrid

I wonder why?????

Ps: Notts forest and derby are big clubs. They had their what it's and lost too. Still big because they had success.

I've supported this club for 35 years

All divisions

We Dean to have been in the brink of collapse
Throughout. Since before the Kumar brothers at al

Always living in fear of us going bust

But we haven't

So f**k it. Let's have a gamble -with our biggest opportunity in decades

Thanks for that but are you going to answer the original question?

I don’t want to know how to get more fans at the club. The way you are coming across is to just throw money at ‘hopefully’ staying up. So although you want this legacy to be like Man Utd and stuff, the way you are planning it in your head we'll be more like Wimbledon.

I've heared your what if all my supporting life
I too was a what if supporter

But i see a huge opportunity here
A definite gamble.
If it fails we get relegated. Lose 20 million on players
From a billionaires wallet/hold on our club

We get relegated with a better team maybe?
Sell players and recoup some maybe?
Debt to Tan.
Or
We don't gamble and get relegated
Still in debt to Tan.....

I’m far from a what if supporter, I’d love us to be spending millions on player A, B or C. But I am more aware of the financial restrictions we face compared to other clubs, as we are finally being run with finances in mind. I was just posing the question as the board the last week has been an awful read, considering how brilliantly we’ve done so far. So I wanted to see what the people who have been slagging off the club, views were on what I’ve asked.

I’m confident we will make signings, but we have to do it in the right way. Warnock knows what he is doing and he’s right in the way he only wants to bring in people who will improve the squad. As for the money, who knows what we’ve got to spend. But I’d rather do it in a way that keeps us financially sound and it’s not a s simple as Tan just sayin here’s X Amount of £’s. If we go down as you’ve said hopefully we’ll recoup some of that money we’ve spent,

How do you think Tan became a billionaire?

He went for it!
He won more gambles
THAN he lost

We have to be careful we seem to have a tight squad, one expensive bad apple could ruin us, I like the approach Warnock has made, it's a terrible time to buy players, and Warnock will only get what we can afford !!!
