Maybe being last to sign someone is good?

Mon Jan 07, 2019 4:42 pm

For obvious reasons it might put us in a difficult situation where the longer we wait, the less that becomes available.

But if you think about it, teams around us like Fulham, and also just generally teams in the premier league, if they sign what’s available right now before we do, that means they’re likely not going to sign any more players in that position because they’ve already got their target. I’m just saying the longer we wait it might actually work in our favour. Imagine if there’s a week left of the transfer window, and everyone around us already have spent their budget. Suddenly loads of what initially looked like unrealistic targets become available because that team has strengthened late on in the window. They might want to join a premier league side and there’s only one option... CARDIFF.

I know the latter might not be the case because who knows maybe no more targets become available, but it’s definetelt a possibility and I think as fans we should just hold out, hope that this is the case, and be patient. I’m sure it’ll come good.

its a good point mate, how keen would Arter and Camarasa have been coming here on loan last June.?

time running out brings things more into focus.

Good point, more signings equals more people being pushed back, thus creating an opening for us, but let's just hope it works out that way

Games we really need to win are coming up fast. It's no good thinking 'it's only Huddersfield, we can beat them with what we've got'. Plus, i believe the squad could do with the psychological boost a new signing would bring.

good points but it can not be easy getting players to come here.to most we look a good bet for the drop and the press seem to like being negative about our football .

I get what you're saying and it's an optimistic angle on it. You could also argue that camarasa & Artar have been better signings than Reid and Murphy who were brought in at the start of the window.

For me though I'd rather the club identify players who will fit into what we really need with a thorough process and a clear plan. Otherwise its just a lucky dip. Example we were lucky with 2 signings but couldn't get a striker over the line.

I can see where you’re coming from but the problem with being last is we’re more likely to get the window slammed on us without getting anybody through the door

Yeah, you tend to get players with a yellow sticker on their head

We don't have the luxury of time to waste. We've got big games coming up... We need bodies in the door.

Leaving it late will mean that we get what no other club wants, the dross.

If we are being realistic not many players available of the quality we want or hope are currently sat at home praying Warnock gives them a call.

We are more likely to get someone of decent quality closer to the window closing when players options are running out. Also when clubs add to the squad themselves other players become available. It's all very well saying we only want people who want to come here but i think that's a very simplistic view. Just because we aren't initially a players first choice doesn't mean they won't give 100% when here.

I can't see us getting anything other than a championship striker or a loan so that's probably one we should focus on.
