The truth about Cardiff squad

Mon Jan 07, 2019 12:25 pm

It’s hard to look past the cup game being just a secondary squad, but the facts are we made 7 changes from our previous league match.

We had Morrison, who has been inconsistent anyway making basic errors since playing in the premier league.

We had Lee Peltier who hasn’t played very much but also been a little inconsistent having a couple good and a couple bad games so far this season

We had Patterson who - although he’s a workhorse and makes himself difficult to play against for the opponents defenders - isn’t going to do much different against lower opposition than he is in the premier league, he just isn’t the type of player to shine against a lesser opposition.

We had Reid who still doesn’t seem to have a particular place in the team.

We had A fresh Mendez-Laing but has not played a single game for weeks, so even though he was making things happen, we still didn’t see the best of him and what he’s capable of.

We had a goalkeeper who - personally- I didnt have much faith in anyway and yes the goal took a deflection from Bennet but even then his reaction to the situation was poor and I would expect better especially from Etheridge if he was in that scenario.

Before we start panicking about our attack and how we might not sign anyone, let’s just see what happens because let’s be real, the chances are by the time the window closes we will have someone up top instead of Patterson, wether that be a new striker or Zohore. We will likely have Bruno playing Center half with Bamba if we get a right back signed and if Morrison continues making simple errors costing us games (it is other players too but Morrison genuinely is so lackadaisical this season it’s unreal)

To stress what I mean by lackadaisical, the official meaning is ‘lacking enthusiasm and determination; carelessly lazy’. which I’m sure half of this forum will disagree with it but from my point of view sums him perfectly this season (and only this season).

Murphy needs to stop getting game time, he just can’t do it.

I’m fairly confident these things will happen, and when they do I’m sure we’ll be harder to beat, and goals will come. Not a lot. But more, which is something...

Your comments upon our captain are both ridiculous and unfair.
He's having to step up a lot in the premiership and do so without a competent full back behind him on the right thus needing to do the full backs job a lot as well as augmenting the attack at set pieces in a way that few other central defenders in the premier league are expected to do.
On the whole I think he's having a bloody good job at doing the job he's asked to do, but which I doubt that anyone could do without that resulting in a few serious glitches along the way.

On BBC Wales, Jason Perry said he was our best player at Gillingham?

So when you say "the truth"...you actually mean "in my opinion"...
