Confirmed: Gary Madine from Cardiff City joins Sheffield United on loan till May and Sheffield United have an option to sign Madine permanently in May.
Gary Madine passes Sheffield United ahead of loan move from CardiffSky Sports Gary Madine has passed his Sheffield United medical ahead of completing his loan move from Cardiff until the end of the season, Sky Sports News understands.
It is understood the move for the former Sheffield Wednesday striker will be confirmed by the Blades on Sunday.
In 2017, Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder accused Madine of a "lack of respect" after a video emerged of him allegedly insulting the club's captain Billy Sharp.
Madine, who spent four years at Wednesday, has appeared for Cardiff 17 times since joining last January but is yet to register a goal for the South Wales club.
Before moving to Cardiff, Madine impressed at Bolton in the first half of last season, scoring ten goals in 29 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship.

Sheffield United: Former boss Neil Warnock reveals reasoning behind letting Gary Madine join the Blades Pause Unmute By Danny Hall - The Star
Neil Warnock, the Cardiff City manager, hopes striker Gary Madine can wipe the slate clean when he joins Sheffield United on loan this month.
The former Sheffield Wednesday and Bolton striker is expected to complete a loan move to Bramall Lane shortly after emerging as a target for Chris Wilder and his staff.
The Star understands that Madine is determined to drive through the deal and return to the Steel City, and Warnock confirmed yesterday that the deal ‘happened qucikly’.
Speaking after his side’s FA Cup third round defeat at Gillingham, Warnock said: “Gary needs to go away and get some goals scored. ”They create a lot of chances do Sheffield, and I’ve said to him: ‘go and get my old club up and get them promoted’.
”He’s felt such a heavy load on his head here, starting with missing a penalty [against Wolves in April] but sometimes it’s good to wipe the slate clean.
”Financially it’s very good for us as well, everything is fully paid up and there are incentives for them going up as well.”
As The Star reported on Friday, it would mark a successful culmination to Madine’s long-term but largely secret flirtation with Wilder's employers if and when he is confirmed as a Blades player.
Sources close to the striker indicated he was first interested in exploring the idea of crossing the Steel City divide towards the end of his spell with United's arch-rivals Wednesday. Indeed, Madine is known to have earlier been a regular visitor to Bramall Lane during the 2011/12 season, when both were competing for promotion from League One, and became good friends with at least two members of United's squad at the time.
United's most senior players are believed to have signalled their willingness to work with Madine, aged 28, as they chase top-flight football.

I hope he does well there. Not his fault that we paid over the odds for him and things, unfortunately, haven’t worked out. Hasn’t been lazy - like people such as Zohore - when called upon.
You’d have to assume this means we have somebody lined up. Warnock mentioned something about agreeing terms with a player yesterday.

Ned, agree with you wholly on that post. Neil Warnock has never criticised Garry Madine to my knowledge

Would be a pretty poor decision to let him go with no one lined up to replace him.
Let's hope there is an announcement on Monday

That's the first thing he has passed in his time here.

I actually hope he does well. It’s not his fault he hasn’t been good enough. I think he’s put the effort in. Just a poor purchase from Warnock.

Hope he impresses. Might get some of our money back, then.

Possibly some transfer news later

Fabulous news after yesterday's debacle. Let's hope we get a bit of quality in now.

Madine has taken a lot of criticism, some of which I think has been unfair. Ok his goal scoring record cannot be any worse but I’ve always felt he’s a better player than most make out. He’s obviously low on confidence. Time for a change and I really hope this move gets him firing again.
All the best Gary!

Good luck to him
Sun Jan 06, 2019 5:18 pm
Really hope the move becomes permanent, probably never given a run of games to settle in.
Not as bad as some make out.
Sun Jan 06, 2019 5:43 pm
This has to mean we have signed a striker.
If we have loaned him out before securing a replacement our recruitment team is stupid.
We currently have 1 fit striker in Bobby Reid and a right back as back up. Everybody else is injured

2 crucial games coming up so you would hope we have a striker coming in.

I agree it's a shame it didn't work out and I wish him all the best and expect him to do well !!!
