Smithies

What was he doing like he was ran away from shot witch resulted in the goal?

Re: Smithies

I was thinking exactly the same thing just now.
If he didn't move, he'd have saved it FFS.

Makes me feel 100 times better that Neil Etheridge is not going to the Asian Cup.

It was deflected off Bennett he had no chance.

Just like a few of the goals scored against Etheridge this season but he was not blamed because he is our #1

Another shit signing from Warnock.

I didn't see the deflection tbh looking at it thought it was just a tame shot straight down the middle. Kinda makes sense I guess why went to his left.

I thought he had a decent game.
No better or worse than Etheridge. Both are average at best

He didn't have anything to do. Couldn't help tmthe goal. defenders at fault there.

Pity their keeper had f**k all to do either!

Hang on!
When he was signed I can’t remember one negative post about him and he was widely regarded as one of (if not the) the best keepers outside the premiership.
I do agree that he did seem at fault for the goal today though.

Well he did nothing wrong in the game itself.

He commanded his box well
His distribution was good
He was quick off his line to prevent a one on one twice
The goal was a deflection he had no chance with

The shot wasn't deflected as he dived too early so the goalscorer put it from where he dived.

Those were the words on sky from the goalscorer

" both are average" what a load of nonsense do you watch much football or are you too young to go and watch, and as for the goal, I just watched it again, there was no deflection straight from the players boot into the net, did not touch anyone, also he was no where near the ball when it hit the post, and if he had stayed where he was he would have saved the goal, very poor goalkeeping today.

Just saw the goal whilst it was typical of ones are defence let in all season, the ball looked to go straight smithies but he didn't know where it was going as their player & city one stood in front of him so it looks like he guessed and ball kept straight while he kept moving!! Very poor decision making.

It looked very much like a deflection off bennett to me. Hard to see with the camera angles but nobother reason for the Smithies to dive away like that.

As for the Average keepers maybe your too old and your eyes cant see how average they really are. Either that or you need to take your blinkers off.

Absolute garbage - would not be surprised to see Etheridge win player of the season award.

I said it was a waste of money at the time as he is not better than Etheridge and Murphy is fine as backup if we wanted another keeper should have signed one on a free rather than spending millions on a backup player.

He is having a good season, but he is still not the quality needed for a #1 in this division.
Other than the huddersfield boy he is the poorest of all the keepers. He looks half decent when he hass 2t shots against him every game but then again everybody would.

Are you too young to know anything about football? it certainly sounds like it with your stupid comments, all opinions welcome but you really have no idea whatsoever, no more comments from me as I would rather spent my time conversing with fans who know what they are talking about!

Re: Smithies

We have 2 players who would interest some teams in the top half of the Prem: Camerassa and Etheridge. Erheridge has had a fine season so far.
I
As for Smithies, his guessing where the ball would go for the Gills turned out to be a mistake. But it's far far too early to judge him.

So because my views differ from yours about the qualities of a player i am wrong and a child.
I would say 10 years as a back up keeper would point to a lot of managers agreeing with me.
Enjoy your blinkered views we will see the truth as the season pans out

Re: Smithies

Thing is etheridge as done well with the defense he has to put up with. He's top for most save this season atm. Even if you put de dea in goals for us he would concede alot of goals.

Re: Smithies

I don't rate either of them just average goal keepers there two a penny but that's my opinion no c**t elses, if you go off whats put out online then a few saves there worth 20million, a few mistakes there useless and need to go :laughing6:
