Stereophonics Inspired Chants/Songs

Sat Jan 05, 2019 1:16 pm

Ive watched man united on tv a few times lately and ive noticed their fans as always got some great chants/songs they sing to create a good atmosphere. One ive noticed in the recent games is one of the song The Stone Roses - Waterfall. Dont know the lyrics but sounds great and aint the stone roses a manchester band so i imagine the united songs sing this song loud and proud because of its identity.

Well in south wales the biggest band ive known who south wales fans identify with it the stereophonics the valleys band from aberdare. Theyve got some great songs and was wondering if anyone had any good ideas of their songs which we could adapt to cardiff city and one of our own to sing loud and proud like united do to create an atmosphere. Allez allez is the latest good one to create an atmoshpere but that’s adopted from liverpool, can anyone think of a belter we could make up ourselves?

To the tune of a "THOUSAND TREES"
He only needs one touch
Does Victor Camarasa
He only needs one touch
To score a magic goal (aka leicester away)

What about Gorki Zygotic Mynci - Patio Song

"Well, isn't it a lovely day
Pattersons on fire.
Well isn't it a lovely day
City moving higher.
For spirit you cant beat us
Our rivals are just jealous
We'll-isnt it a lovely day
for
The Bluebirds now
We love a good row
With Little Bobby Reid
Neil Warnock on spe e e ed".........

Stereophonics are Leeds fans and I took great delight in seeing their glum faces leaving Ninian Park after we beat them in the FA Cup.

I would rather we adopt a Super Furry Animals song, as they're proper City fans.

You could sing the first verse of Fire in my Heart, then the Chorus of Man don’t give a F*^k..

Old enough to tell you the dates we first sang them and if you can give me an earlier date of some other lot singing them then I will tip my hat to you. OK, here goes. We're the greatest team in football the world has ever seen, and it's Cardiff City, first heard by myself at Fellows Park 1976, 0.2 down at half time, came back to win 2.3, sang in jest, obviously, but City fans always enjoyed a bit of humour, as in the Lethal Lynox chant, which took off. Eddie May's blue and white army, sang for the entire second half in our 2.0 win at the Racecourse in the famous 92 /93 season, after about half hour solid with everyone struggling for breath it went to Eddie May's barmy army and shortened to ohh arrh Barmy Army. The Gogs even stood and clapped the amazing City fans that day. So, I d never heard these before then, nah nah nah nah City, went back to the early 70s with the Beatles release. I'm sure I had not heard these chants prior to this. It was only when we beat Leeds in cup on live TV , Scott Young winner that most definitely other clubs caught on to the chant we'd always sang in that publicised victory, Greatest team in football. Mate over to you.

Congratulations for that.

I'm fairly sure the Beatles ain't Cardiff fans either yet loads want 'Hey Jude' played and sung before games.

Spandau Ballett aint Cardiff fans either but it never stopped thousands of Cardiff fans singing the Kenwyn Jones song.

Johnny Cash, Jimmie Davies, Charles Mitchell even f*cking Wham.

I don't think any of them were Cardiff fans you know.

C'est La Vie, personally I think the Kenwyn Jones Spandau Ballett song or the Peggy March 'I will follow him' from sister f*cking act will take some serious beating in the 'shittest' ever football songs but you can put that up along side them if you want, it was the best I could come up with in the whole 3 minutes I gave it my attention haha.

You’re totally missing the point. The OP stated he wants Stereophonics songs sung because they’re Welsh and connect to us. I replied stating they’re Leeds fans, so they don’t connect to us do they.

Don't think I am you know.

He said the biggest band in South Wales he thinks our fans identify with are the Phonics.

Is he wrong then cos I was at Cardiff Castle in 1998 and the Morpha stadium in 1999 and there was a f*cking awfull lot of Cardiff lads/fans at both gigs not to mention all the ones after that.

He didn't say he he wanted Stereophonics songs sung cos their welsh either, he simply made a comparison and asked if anyone had any ideas.

Stop making stuff up.

the only major groups that has ever mattered on the terraces are sham 69 and the cockney rejects with there west ham anthems . a great bond they had with the fans don't think anyone will ever match them

if the kids are united a prime example

Stereophonics " have a nice day"

" Harry arter, duh duh du duhh duhh, Harry arter duh duh du duhh duhh"

Oasis " don't look back in anger"

" sooo Betis can wait,
He scored our 1st goal,
As the gooners came by,
So betis can wait,
Victor Camarasa,
He's here to stay"

Rick Astley "never gonna give u up"

" never gonna give you up,
Never gonna let you down,
Never gonna leave this ground,
Josh murphy"
"Never gonna make you cry,
Never gonna say goodbye,
Never gonna leave this ground,
Josh murphy

Been trying to get someone to start these for ages as I'm not in canton end but in the grandstand. One of very few who chant. Give them a go guys ad I reckon at least one will be decent

Like I said, the comparison of Man Utd fans singing Stone Roses songs to us singing Stereophonics songs makes zero sense. Stone Roses are Man Utd fans (apart from their drummer), so there is a connection. Stereophonics are Leeds fans, so there's no connection.

The thought of us signing Stereophonics songs at games makes me cringe to be honest, they're pro Leeds, pro Welsh rugby and anti Cardiff City. Put it this way, if we ever did start singing a Stereophonics chant, I definitely won't be joining in.
