CHRIS WATHAN: CITY STILL IN FOR TAMEZE AND SALA

Fri Jan 04, 2019 7:40 pm

Cardiff City are targeting a January move for Nice midfielder Adrien Tameze.
By Chris Wathan - 2 hours ago

Cardiff are keen on adding to their midfield options and are confident of a deal for the 24-year-old.

The former France youth international has made 50 appearances for the Ligue 1 side having joined from Valenciennes in July 2017.

Manager Neil Warnock is also hopeful of adding a striker and a full-back over the next month, with talks ongoing on a deal for Nantes forward Emiliano Sala.

Emiliano Sala was an unused sub in Nantes 4-1 win over Châteauroux tonight with all three of their other subs coming on,
watched the game to see what he was like but he never came on ..... maybe something in it with the ongoing talks

It was a cup game so probably just giving him a rest, no need bringing him on when they won 4-1

Can't believe city would pay what they want for Sale. Plus he is rumoured not to want to come to City.

The situation with Sala is getting a bit like the Grujic situation at the start of the season. He has repeatedly told us he is not in the slightest bit interesting moving to Cardiff under any circumstances and as the power nowadays lies completely with the player we need to move on. Maybe we have and it's just paper talk but we need to put all our efforts into getting players who actually are willing to come to Cardiff even if they don't paticularly want to.

NW said don’t believe what you read. My advice is to sit tight and wait and see as I’m sure it’s 90% guess work or agents giving stories to the press to spark some interest or a bidding war.
I do agree in principle that we should give any potential target a deadline to sign for us though. The offer’s there til next week, take it or leave it then move on if he’s not signed.

Andrew, you are spot on there and I'm intrigued as to Crayfish' assertion that Sala has "Repeatedly told us..." :?

In the absence of a direct quote from Sala himself, I certainly not had a call, a text or an e-mail off him myself stating he doesn't want to come

Have you? :? :laughing6:

If we fail to bring anyone in before next week I fully expect us to lose against Huddersfield.
Todays result will have done untold damage to their confidence.

Personally I think it may have the opposite effect.
Warnock will rightly have a go at the team today and I think we’ll be right up for it next week.
