MEHMET DALMAN MAKES STATEMENT ON CRAIG BELLAMY SITUATION

Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman gives Craig Bellamy update as dad of Academy player speaks out on radio show
By Ian Mitchelmore

Bellamy categorically refutes the allegations that he bullied an academy player

Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman says a senior member of the Bluebirds' board is leading the investigation into claims Craig Bellamy bullied a former Academy player at the club.

On Thursday morning, Bellamy issued a statement to 'categorically refute' the claims and insists he will clear his name.

Bellamy also revealed that he has voluntarily stepped down from his role for the time being to help co-operate with the club's inquiry into the matter.

Speaking on Talksport on Thursday, David Madden, who claims his son Alfie was bullied by Bellamy, spoke out about the behaviour of the former Wales international.

Madden had previously spoken of his Bellamy concerns in the Daily Mail.

Dalman also appeared on Talksport's Jim White show and revealed that the investigation into the matter started 48 hours ago.

"I don't want to personalise this. Any complaint or any disgruntlement of this nature that comes to the attention of Cardiff City Football Club, they will automatically investigate it," said Dalman.

"We have procedures and processes in place that will kick in.

"That process kicked in 48 hours ago. A senior member of the board has been appointed to look into this and he will do so very thoroughly.

"He will deliver his verdict at the end of it and it's as simple as that."

Did David Madden contact Cardiff City FC regarding these allegations, before contacting the Daily Mail, & Talksport???

Difficult one to call this. We all know how abrasive Bellamy is, but it does appear the father has gone running to the media. Itll be interesting to see what other academy players say.

I think the radio contacted him thinking a Craig Bellamy story was potentially explosive but I get the presenters were a little underwhelmed and (apart from a character assassination from Madden) didn't really get the answers they wanted

I'm not sure about the origins of the Mail involvement

Madden claimed on the radio that he did but it was a little sketchy and my impression was that it was via letter sent to the club some time later

His only references to conversations were with Craig Bellamy himself and (Academy Manager) James McCarthy

As I've sad here before we live in an age when allegations like this don't go away , irrespective of their Merits or otherwise.

Frankly it was inevitable that Craig would do something or other to embarrass the club and himself and I think if this somehow went away, he'd do something else. It's a great pity that such a great great player and loyal Cardiff City figure is his own worst enemy time and time again.

I expect that the club will end up paying out a considerable settlement , and let's hope it's concluded quickly. We don't need this to distract us from what we're trying to do and we really mustn't let it.

At least the club are handling this in the right way and professionally.

1 - innocent until proven guilty, there’s been no concrete evidence that this is true in the media. Let’s not judge until we have the full facts, as the club are doing.

2 - this has nothing to do with the first team or first team manager/coaching staff, so there’s no reason it would distract them.

I know plenty of City fans want this to be true, purely because they seem to have a vendetta against Bellamy.

I’m not his biggest fan, especially after he unfairly criticised us and our style of play on Sky few months ago, but at this point it’s just an allegation.

Don't pay him anything, any apology for banter (if it's proved anything could have caused offense) and send him on his way !!!

Lets put an end to this compensation culture !!!

Too late for that sadly.

Your right about the sky comments months ago, he was a disgrace and it's no wonder Warnock wants him no where near the team. I'd use this as an excuse to get rid of the virus true or not.

its plural...more than one allegation. there seem to be major fall outs between him and other academy personnel, and some of those incidents mentioned happened when Madden was not even here.. no doubt they are all snowflakes with vendettas too.
as for innocent until proven guilty the vast majority think him innocent no matter what his behaviour has been..

I didn’t call anyone snowflakes.

Yes, innocent until proven guilty is how things work? If it’s proven, I’ll be the first to say that City and Sky should sack him.

It doesn’t matter if it’s one allegation or 100, he shouldn’t be sacked without having a fair hearing.

People make their minds up too quickly without giving the accused a chance.

I was referring to you.

I won’t call the accuser a liar, because I don’t know the facts and Bellamy could well be guilty?

I’m sitting on the fence and I also don’t agree with those having a go at the accuser. In my initial post, I said let not judge until we know the full facts - that applies to both parties.

yes I know you were referring to me , but at no point have I said he is guilty of this particular bullying ..{ although he is a bully and should never have been near our academy }

as for those having a go at the accuser be a good idea if they started off by reading the article and joining the pretty obvious dots..the boy who has made the current complaint is not actually the one everybody has jumped on..
he is at present an un named member of our academy .some of the incidents mentioned were outside the timeframe Madden was here....the Mail having been given a bit of a story and probably told of the Maddens episode followed it up...

so all the absolute crap about compo and only doing it because he is being released and has a club lined up...wink wink..is just that..crap

Well that's rather my point you see. It's no longer a case of innocent until proven guilty I'm afraid.
In our media and victim group driven society, the mere allegation is usually enough to ruin a career. I don't like this much, but we all have to be mindful of what we say in public , especially if the media are likely to report it.
In short, he would need to have some common sense if he wanted a career in such a publicly scrutinised field, and he just hasn't has he ?
I've got such great admiration for his past deeds that I'd love him to succeed , and he's had lots of chances, but my sad conclusion is that he can't control himself and therefore I don't know what we can do to help him

Another unnamed dad has put the boot into Craig, Saturdays Daily Mail.
Willing to speak to the team completing the investigation.

His main point was Craigs shouts at them when training. Really!
