Fry urges Cardiff City not to break Lee Tomlin’s heart

Peterborough United director of football Barry Fry claims Lee Tomlin will be ‘broken-hearted’ if Cardiff City block his return to London Road.

Tomlin has been training with Posh for close to a month with a view to joining on loan until the end of the season.

But, according to Fry, the situation has become ‘political’ on Cardiff’s part. The Premier League club are involved in a contractual wrangle with the 29 year-old playmaker.

Fry, who believes three new players could arrive at Posh before Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Middlesbrough, said: “Lee only wants to play for Posh. He wants to enjoy his football again. It’s not about money which is true as we won’t be paying anywhere near what he is getting at Cardiff.

“He’s trained well for us. He is getting fitter and he wants to be loved again. He’s having some personal issues and he wants to get away from Cardiff and start afresh.

“I am waiting for a call from Cardiff to get this deal done and I hope it happens for our sake and for Lee’s sake. He would be broken-hearted if it didn’t happen.

“What a player he would be for us if he’s anywhere near his best, but we are also trying to get other players in, preferably ones who aren’t cup-tied.

“There could be three here by the weekend and all would be ready to play at Middlesbrough if required.”

Tomlin was originally signed by Posh from Rushden & Diamonds in August 2010 and helped the club to promotion from League One that season, scoring 11 goals.

He went on to make 156 appearances for Posh, scoring 43 goals including a hat-trick in a 7-1 Championship win over Ipswich.

New players have to sign before noon on Friday to be eligible to play in the FA Cup this weekend.

Surely gets to a point where a player who doesnt try and is unfit is in breach of contract.

As a professional player he should always be fit and ready when not injured or he shouldnt be paid

Always the victim isn't he. But some how constant drama around him. Fat waste of space.

Hope we play hardball, if its not about money, just let him accept Posh,s wages.
Sat around doing nothing for the best part of 2018, let him rot just a waste of a talent, looking for how much he can make on each move.
Perhaps eventually the truth will, come out about his time here at Cardiff.

From the 'Posh' end...

Posh are waiting on Cardiff to sign off a loan deal for former London Road favourite Lee Tomlin. “I haven’t caught up with Barry Fry yet,” Evans told the Peterborough Telegraph today (January 2). “The last I heard Barry was waiting for Neil Warnock to reply. “Lee has been with us for a few weeks and he’s trained well."

"We’ve certainly got him looking fitter."

Theres a few fans on Poshs forum stating that they dont want him as he is trouble
A few stating "shock horror tomlin has issues with employers"
How on earth did we take a risk on him

obviously our manager thought he could get more out of him than others have..in all fairness Warnock has a very good track record doing this...we paid about 1/3rd of what an interested fit Tomlin would be worth and I presume the promotion bonus was based on, if we get promoted we would have needed our marque signing to have played a big part in it..?

it didn't work but loads of other things did

Follow his instagram account. He cares more about keeping his cars clean than his football career.

not much sympathy on this forum for tomlin here, rightly so.

at least someone like pilkington has the professionalism to keep fit so he can be part of the squad if needed, even if he is clearly surplus to requirements and picking up a wage.

some Peterborough fans accuse him of deliberately picking up a second yellow in the last minute of a 29th of December game so that he would be banned for the new years day game and go on the lash on new years eve .. :laughing5: :laughing5:

Without insinuating anything, the Warnock's done alright out of the deal, James

he works for an agency that represents Tomlin and about 200 footballers...been done before

hardly deal of the century a loan move to Peterborough.
