I HOPE WE DON'T SIGN SALA

Wed Jan 02, 2019 1:36 pm

Reported £20m fee. For a 28 year old with half a good season under his belt.

Ligue 1 record before this season: 125 games. 36 goals. Other than PSG and maybe Marseille/Lyon, the league is poor. This guy is essentially Madine last season. Half a good season and we sign a massive, over-priced donkey to lump the ball to.

I'd rather loan a striker (perhaps with option to buy) or put the money else where.

I don't think we will sign him but if we do sign him it wont be for anything like 20m we can be sure of that.

£20 mill is about right for a half decent striker.
That wouldn’t get you Messi’s toe nail.

Factor in premier league premium.

£20m is not OK for a Ligue 1 player with half a decent season under his belt.

It is if he helps keep us up.
That’s the going rate, get used to it.

Sorry but Mahrez was £500k and Vardy £1m. There's better out there for less if you don't scout lazy. £100m is an acceptable fee is we stay up, that's no reasoning to be lazy and over pay.

I don't think there is much chance we will spend £20m on one player during this transfer window. I take all these names and amounts with a large pinch of salt. Happens every single January, and then again all Summer. I don't even bother looking through the names linked with us any more, there are so many it would be like reading War & Peace. Once they are pictured at the CCS holding a City shirt with their name on it, I would be fairly sure we have made a signing.

Warnock has already said he's scouted Sala and that he played poorly when he watched him in person but we're still interested. So I'm happy the link is correct. I agree that chances are the price isn't correct. Either way I wouldn't like to risk that money on him. I'd rather pay that for someone like Jay Rodriguez (although he wouldn't leave West Brom)

Warnocks not going to to say he’s a fabulous striker and he’s keen as mustard to sign him for obvious reasons

He's already said in a press conference he's interested and then later on said he thought it was done but the fee was too big. He said he watched him play and he played poor. Do you really think West Ham and other clubs linked with him will turn around then and go "Oh Neil Warnock said Sala was poor the other day, let's not bid for him". Daft.

Correct. Other managers are not going to pay a blind bit of interest in anything Warnock says, and vice versa.

Just seen Wolves spending 18m on Tammy Abraham who's English and only 21 with loads of potential to improve. I don't personally think 20m+ on a 28 year old from France who's had half a good season and 1/4 of his goals are penalties is a good signing. But who knows.

Except they’re not, all other press - including those close to Wolves and Chelsea - have said there hasn’t even been a bid yet.

People think something is true just because it’s on Sky Sports News.

Looks quite quick to be fair aswell for someone big, seems to be in the right places at the times aswell. Even if he score 1 in every 3 games that decent for a bottom half team. Just hope he isn't like madine but even scoring one goal would be better than madine.
