Squads mental strength

Tue Jan 01, 2019 7:28 pm

The one thing lacking in this squad of players is the mental strength needed for a fight. Including the Manager!

Any time we play a top 7 team we retreat into our shell and look a beaten team befors the game even starts. That includes pre match interviews with the manager bigging up opposition to team selections and change of tactics.

Yes these teams are very good but we make them look better by giving way too much respect.

I wish we would just play our way once against one of these teams and not try to hold or tinker with the team

Warnock keeps writing off these games so you can't blame the players. Yes he says something else behind closed doors but it gives them a place to hide.

agree they looked so much better today than they did beating Man Utd by the same score at old Trafford or sticking 6 on Everton at Goodison because we MADE them look good...no mate they ARE a good .

sometimes you just have to admit that you were beaten by a better team.

their team cost 10 times what ours cost and you think a few different words from NW can close that gap to zero ..no

No lack of mental strength; they've proved that for most of the season ;)

Maybe too much respect for the 'big' teams and a little meek in their approach when they don't think they'll get anything from the game; possibly part of the big plan from the management :(

why cant it be we were up against a superior team , they are not 2nd and a regular champions league club because bottom 6 clubs give them too much respect , they are actually pretty good..

Well we beat a top 7 club on Saturday so that’s just nonsense.

Though as I’ve been saying all season we need press teams higher up the pitch rather than sitting back as we do much better when we press. Also Warnock got his tactics and team selection wrong today big time especially starting Reid up top and Patterson on the wing. He is a striker FFS not a winger or a fullback and Reid can’t play up top on his own for us.
