Cunningham - out of position

Considering he’s meant to be playing Left Back he’s out of position a hell of a lot today

Bennett is the better left back and needs to play from now on.

Cunningham just cant cope against higher quality forwards and it unsettles the defence

Lennie Bennett would be an improvement on Cunningham.

A lot of players got lose, seemed to be following players and man marking. It was a mess.

Difference between getting lost tracking players and making your way back to what Cunningham was doing, getting lost in the center of midfield and staying there meaning Bamba getting stretched out to Left Back.....

We tried to man mark and they exploited that by pulling people out of position. Need to adopt a different tactic in future !

Works against teams around us but whenever we play a top 6 team they seem to rip us to shreds when we play this man to man marking game. They kept dragging our full backs out of position all game especially Cunningham.

At one point in first 20 mins we had Morrison ,Bamba and Manga all on the halfway line with Cunningham and Gunners left at CH.
Surely we have to stop this man marking at this level.
There was acres of space at times for spurs to run into.

It Didn’t help that Murphy did little to no tracking back today.

I’m not going to blame Cunningham for being out of position. Warnock clearly set them up with this stupid man marking system that Spurs exploited time and time again, and it ruined our shape. Murphy hung him out to dry whenever he did move forward to follow a man, too.
