Went to Southampton v Man City yesterday

Mon Dec 31, 2018 11:59 am

With my Godson, his Dad and his Dad’s best mate. Little lad is 6 and loves the footy.

They are rubbish, really rubbish. All they have are good strikers it seems (Ings and Austin although Ings didn’t get on) as they have little else. Man City didn’t even hit second gear unlike when they played us.

Their fans are also rubbish. No atmosphere at all. Doesn’t help the players.

I am now confident that they will finish below us in the league.

They are certainly one of the teams who are going to struggle for survival. Personally, I think Bournemouth will soon join those of us fighting to stay in the PL. I am surprised they have survived this long, traditionally a lower league side, and I think along with Swansea, that is where they will ultimately end up.

Absolutely massive game for us down there on the 9th Feb. I hope City start show belief that the fans will turn up and start taking the maximum allocations. I appreciate we've then got to sell out but with a real belief that we can now do it then we should be. If there was a slight downside to Leicester its that only 2000 were there to witness it.

Have no fear, if we are given a 3000 tickets allocation we will sell them all for this one. :bluescarf:

I thought this while watching it on the box yesterday, the only time you heard the Southampton fans was after the equalizer , once Man City scored again it was like a library, even when we've taken a tuning against the two Manchester clubs our fans have been loud and proud, lets keep that going it is working.

They have one song and That slow version of “When the Saints ...” is woeful !

I was surprised they didn’t start Ings, wish we could have signed him !

I think Bournemouth will be fine in the end, just think they're going through a bad patch. They have an outstanding manager and lightening fast players with quality like David Brooks, Ryan Fraser, Josh King, and Callum Wilson and experienced pros like Asmir Begovic, Steve Cook, and Charlie Daniels. Id be surprised if they ended up like Swansea as they seem to have a philosophy and a stability about them which is something Swansea never had by the last 3-4 years.

I think your right. Bournemouth already have 26 points. Another 10 and they're safe. They'll get that with ease. Same for Brighton. Relegation is a fight between the current bottom 7.

I think palace will pull away. A lot of quality.

Bottom three currently, us and Southampton are the ones at risk. I think Newcastle will be ok too.

Just like Swansea lose their better players and replace but I think it's got to the point like Swansea where they look so far into the market that they end up with absolute duds, Swansea signed someone for 15 million striker from Atletico Madrid or somewhere his name is Borja something and I'm sure Southampton spent 25 million on Carrillo from Monaco.. they just go off the cuff in the market and lose their way.. another one Mesa for Swansea did he even play for them?

I’ve always thought their strike force would see them safe.

Starting to have a few doubts, but let’s not forget they had two straight wins before the last couple of results - including one against Arsenal.

Difficult period for them now. Their next three are Chelsea and Leicester away, with Everton at home. All very tough games, and could be in a spot of bother if a few of the teams around pick up points.

Our match there will be one of our upcoming “cup finals”. If we can be out of the bottom three after this week’s fixtures then we’ll be doing well before the massive game against Huddersfield at home.

They will probably survive this season but I get SZ's point that they have a shelf life which won't last much longer. Their sugar Daddy won't be there forever and when they do return to the FL they will be in deep sh*t over Financial Fair Play which will see them bomb downwards through the leagues
