Cardiff City to beat Swansea City to Rangers and Celtic target Glen Kamara - reports
By Mathew Davies

The midfielder is a wanted man

Sunday 31st December 2018

Cardiff City have stolen a march on Swansea City, Rangers and Celtic and are set to land Glen Kamara next month, according to reports.

The Finland international has caught the eye of a number of admirers and was heavily linked with Swansea last summer.

The Dundee man is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and will be available in a cut-price deal when the transfer window opens in a few days' time.

The 23-year-old came through the ranks at Arsenal but failed to make the grade under Arsene Wenger despite featuring for the Gunners in the League Cup and in Champions League matchday squads.

Earlier this month it was stated that Graham Potter had scouts watching Kamara during Dundee's 4-0 win over Hamilton.

His manager, Jim McIntryre, revealed that Kamara's future was a subject for discussion. He said: "We have not had that conversation yet.

"I know there has been interest in him. He is a very good player and I can understand the interest.

"All we are doing right at this moment is assessing what we have got and then moving forward there will be discussions."

According to teamTALK, Kamara is set to to sign a pre-contract with the Bluebirds next month who would then make a decision whether he would move to the Cardiff City Stadium now or in the summer.

Kamara featured for Dundee during the 2-0 home defeat to St Johnstone on Saturday.

If this is true and it would be a cut price deal, along with the Clyne rumour about a loan then surely we can put all remaining funds towards a top quality striker?

I'd be happy with this guy, Clyne and Niasse/Sala

Sala is dead in the water.

Yeah well forget Sala.
Don't get too excited about this guy though , unless he turns out to be a surprise gem like Sol Bamba he's just a journeyman midfielder and I don't think he's intended as an automatic first team contender.
I mean I hope he turns out to be a star, but I think he's just cover .

journeyman ?

he may well be coming as cover but a career that consists of just 1 move from Arsenal to Dundee hardly makes him a journeyman..

Thought we were sorted in midfield and needed a striker and extra help in defence, only reason I can think of getting a midfielder in during January is to start looking at next season when we lose both Arter and Camarasa... (hope the board can persuade Tan to foot the bill for both players mind)

"Sorted in midfield"... you can't see the need to get someone in alongside Camarasa and Arter?

Ralls is not up to this level and Gunnarsson (despite having one of his better games against Leicester) is not the answer.
Apart from the blindingly obvious need of a striker and a right-back, we DO need another midfielder.

This^^^^ And Warnock has previously said, he’s looking for another defensive midfielder. In the highlights I’ve seen of him, he likes to put a foot in and can wriggle out of trouble.

But Alan did make a good point about looking ahead to next season when we could lose Arter and Vic. Ralls and Gunnars are back up options not the best admittedly but that's what we have to work with and I have faith in NW to get the best out of them.

Looks like Fernandinho on YouTube  According to the Dundee Forum he was their best player last season by miles and was one of the best defensive midfielders in the SPL. But he apparently picked up an injury in the summer and hasn't been up to the same standard this season with a lot of their fans saying he seems to have lost interest this season with all the summer speculation and doesn't seem to be giving 100% maybe due to not wanting to get injured for his next move. If he does end up joining us it should be interesting to see if he can make the step up from the SPL to the Premier League as it is a very big step tbf.
