Match of the Day - why are they so bent ?

Sun Dec 30, 2018 12:26 am

There's always been a general feeling that this programme is often reluctant to give us a break, but sometimes it's hard to be certain because they occasionally say something slightly positive .
Well, tonight I watched the game on Sky Match Choice then immediately afterwards the recording of it on match of the day. It was like two different games - Match of the Day edited out almost all of Cardiff's good play and shots and even the same commentator's positive comments , making it look entirely one sided in the favour of Leicester.

They gave themselves away right at the end when they failed to remove the commentators comment " and boy have Cardiff justified it !" What an odd thing to say if the game was as one sided as they were making out !

What exactly is the problem here ? Is it that Wales voted for Brexit or maybe we're not buying enough Walkers Crisps in the area?

Does anyone know what the problem is which Lineker and co have with Cardiff City ?

I guess if you go 'looking' for the negatives, you'll find them no matter what the truth

What's all this about, then...? :?

I thought exactly the same as I did the same. It was strange when he said 'and boy they deseve it' off the back of those highlights.

SIR JIMMY SCHOULAR
I watched the game live and you did and thought exactly like me i watched sky's match choice and the irish co commentator always praises cardiff can' t remember his name but always covers the championship curly headed lad ,i recorded motd and also said to the misses the commentator said at the end that we where the more deseving in 2nd half, have a look on the bbc teletext this morning and read the write up on our game all one way even the second half, my misses who watches gillette soccer sat religiously said phil Thomson even said we deserved it, as i have said before on the forum bbc find it difficult to complement us .

The editor doesn’t have time to seek out positive(or negative)comments, or try and find the best bits.. as long as the goals are shown, that’s it.

I think to be fair Jimmy, you have to remember that on the Beeb, MOTD has only around 90 minutes max to fit in the highlights of all the matches, and then give their analysis afterwards. Sky are able to devote entire channels solely to sports, and have a lot more time for their post match discussions. I did not look for the positives or negatives when watching MOTD last night, but from what I recall, I thought they were fair, rightly praised us, particularly the goal and the performance from Etheridge, and of course the Warnock interview. Leicester were hardly given a mention, and I think the reason we saw so many highlights of Leicester's goal attempts was to show how good the performance of Etheridge was. Saw a fair few highlights of our goal as well. I think sometimes we are so convinced that everyone is against us, we only spot the negatives even if they are outweighed by the positive comments.

You would have needed to watch both programs sky coverage and the bbc to give an honest opinion rather than just saying paranoid bbc did praise verbaly but the coverage from both channels where completly diffetent including the comentary and the bbc coverage was all leicster and this was not how the game played out at all ask the fans who went to the game.

My mate more or less said the same given what he saw on motd highlights
But I put him straight saying it wasnt a true reflection of the game
People watching warnocks interview after the game saying he thought we shaded it and deserved the win after those highlights must have thought he was on drugs

I was'nt at the game and not seen the Sky coverage (apart from highlights this morning) so not in best position to judge .The stats show us having three shots on target. I saw the goal we scored, and the save Schmeichel made, not sure if they showed our other shot. I saw Etheridge make around six saves on MOTD, and I think they had seven on target. Possesion was 62%-38% in favour of Leicester, and as they did not show an awful lot more than the shots and the build up to those shots, it was the sort of coverage I would have expected. Could be wrong as I was not at the game, but the coverage seems in line with the official match stats.

Steve, MotD were as balanced as they could be on the game and it is correct that Leicester had the more showable highlights until the final minutes

Their pundits, including Lineker, were praising of City and their performance and particularly of the goal

Lineker even interviewed Neil Warnock via TV link after the game to discuss the win against his own beloved club and accepted a little 'ribbing' from our manager

In comparison to some recent games, I think MotD were pretty balanced on the night, to be fair :thumbright: :ayatollah:
