He always seem to hold on to the ball to long and give it away. He either needs to play it simple or get benched.

Although he has scored two fantastic goals in the last couple of weeks, including a vital one which was the match of the day goal of the month.
It never ceases to amase me how some people can always find a negative.

I was one of the people who were a bit negative because he had seemed to have lost the ability to go past defenders. This may be down to the amount of defending he is now doing when helping out the full back behind him.

I thought he was immense yesterday, could develop into a genuine wing back.

I understand he can produce the goods sometimes, just not consistent enough. I think he championship at best and has been found out. He never seem to try and cross the ball either instead doing circles then getting dispossessed, I believe he should just play it simple. He can't beat his man because he's lost a yard of pace.

100% agree I think most people avoid the defensive work he does. He’s come up against very attacking full backs the previous two games and nullified them brilliantly. As well as helping us out on the attacking side.

What do you mean "gives the ball away"? Haven't you heard that song - he NEVER gives the ball away!
Seriously though his defensive work has been excellent recently and I'm sure that's why he's been picked so frequently to start games at the moment.
And he also has those stunning goals in his locker for special occasions!

Holliet does defensive duties well but lets be honest a winger first and formost is to attack and imo lang makes a better fist of attacking than junior

I have been saying the same for several weeks. We lookmore effective/dangerous with another pacey player NML or even KH. Hoilett was great in the Championship but struggles in the Prem. He has great technical ability and works hard but can't beat a defender for pace, and can't tackle (without fouling).
At the moment, I would rather have him on the bench ready to replace someone towards the end of games.

I thought he was brilliant last season but he does seem to have struggled to make the step up to the Premier league imo. Gets pushed off the ball far to easily, his passing has been horrendous this season and im not sure if he's lost some pace as he doesn't seem to want to take on full backs anymore unless that's a confidence thing. But I will give him credit he's scored 2 brilliant goals this season and his work ethic and defensive shape is excellent.

You've got to understand that everyone has ups and downs. We tend to notice someone's best bits of play and then expect them to do that every time he gets the ball. George Best did quite a few f ups in every game but we only remember the clips of his high points and look back as if that was his average standard.
Junior Hoilett isn't bad at his worst, and he's very very good at his best.

It was possible his best performance of the season yesterday he was pretty awesome. Murphy however had a shocking game.

the manager tells players how he wants them to play...its not winger first and foremost its to instruction..
so therefore your comparing NML who is nowhere near as good at this job under his managers instructions to someone that is excellent at it and crediting the wrong player for being less disciplined

That’s really well put.
I also think that JH is particularly strong at holding onto the ball which is vital particularly away from home when we’re often under the cosh.

I'll second that. Most people just look at the guy in possession when watching a football match. Hoilett is being asked to do a different job to the one last season.

think we are all guilty of that, if guilty is the correct word..the problem with being a football fan is we turn up totally unaware of what instructions the manager and coaches have spent all week trying to get the players to conform to , so therefore you tend to be wanting players to be doing what you would want them to do which might be the exact opposite to what theyve been told by the manager..and then knock the player for not doing whats in your head...
