INVESTING for our future #CCFC

Fri Dec 28, 2018 3:34 pm

For me this january transfer window is absoloutely massive, and ultimately could make or break the future prosperity of this great football club.

Investing is now crucial. If we cut corners and try get in bargain players then we could come up short and go down, imo we should sign the players top of our wish list even if it does mean spending a fair bit. One chance we get at this, we are capable of staying up with this manager and group of players who will try their best and fight for the cause we just need that bit of stardust and quality we are missing mainly the striker weve needed since the championship last season.

I can see interest in this club growing and growing, and more and more little bluebirds are going to the ground with their dads who be fair if we wasnt succesful and in the premeirship with the big boys the interest wouldnt be there. But i think seeing all these new fans and interest in the club is great and long may it continue. But investing now in january to keep us up and keep the club growing is vitaly important and i hope our owner and manager can see whats happening imo and dont let us down...

Does the sleeping giant keep on marching forward? Or does he go back to sleep?

Anyone else feel like this?

I suppose we all do as it's not our bank accounts that will be used to spend the millions and millions required, with no guarantees of anything to show for it at the end. That is why, as others have said previously, football is completely different to the average business. Three clubs are going to have spent large sums of money this year, paid out a big load in player's wages and everything else that goes along with running a club, and still be playing Championship football in August.

Like everyone else, I'm all for spending tens of millions, makes no difference to my finances. Not my money that's being gambled. Like most others though, I am a realist and know it is just not happening. The reason I am confident it won't happen, is because the owner has set out his plans for the future, and told us all what they are. I suppose it's up to each individual whether or not they believe him, but while he may have his faults, I don't think telling porkies is one of them.

I think there will be a modest amount for Warnock to spend, but anyone expecting a mega bucks gamble is in for a disappointment.

I do sort of ..I would love the club to have a stupidly rich multi billionaire throwing money at it..
we don't so there fore have to be reasonable...
people talk as if its spend some money and get a striker that will make the difference..i am sure that is exactly what 4 managers have told Tan { who is not the dummy with a goldfish memory that many think he is }
anyway..here are the strikers signed in the last 4 seasons by 4 managers , most of us were pleased at the time of signing but you tell me how many were VALUE FOR MONEY..maybe there are reasons/excuses for some but purely based on value for money, how many of them tick that box.

I think I would be more comfortable making the club stronger long term, no matter what happens the clubs will always have its highs and lows. I’m not saying we don’t invest and strengthen but everything we have done under Warnock has been prudent and about building relationships and team ethic and not just chucking money at it. For all we know spending big one a few players could totally unsettle the squad.

What if we do invest and then go down, we are back to square one again looking to Tan to cover our costs. We know we can’t rely on our fans to fill a stadium if we go back down, we are not one of those big clubs so being prudent makes sense to me.

I get the feeling we will end up with a loan striker and probably spend around 5/6m on a fullback maybe 5/6m on a winger and maybe another loan from abroad for midfield. I don’t think that’s a bad idea either.

I think if we had a mass amount of money to be spent it would have been done in the summer rather than the inflated January market.

We could spend big money on two great players and they both get injured in the same match. Back to square one tben!...

I just want us to do it sustainably now, so when it comes to a point where we do need to sell a player, it's not just a firesale it's for the price the club needs.

We have only got to this point because we have an expert management team. When this regime finishes we need to be in a healthy position in whatever league we're in to give the next management team a chance not have a complete mess like OGS left.

I kind of agree with a lot u say but i think healthy investment now will either make us or break us. Go down it could be years before we get the riches of the premier league again, invest now and the club builds and builds and gets more years of the riches of the premier league and the club as a business grows as in fanbase merchandise sponsorship increases each year being a premiership club so investing and gambling now when we are so close to getting where we want to be makes a lot of sense imo and it is more risky to not invest and go down and throw away everything. The difference between us and say fulham is if we invested we would add the quality to the team spirit, togetherness and great management team which fulham dont have so i think its a far safer gamble for us.

there will be investment to some degree it just has to be balanced .
wont be enough for some no matter what figure it is...
would people have been happier had we spent 50 mill in the summer but no loan signings and the extra money gone on 2 players nowhere near as good as the loanees ?

We just need to assess what the manager feels he needs to get us through to the summer and then (hopefully) go into the market again with the knowledge we will still be in the Premier League and all that entails

My only addition to that would be to buy Victor Camarasa now rather than later, as he has (a) proven his worth, and (b) could be massive for us if the worse should happen and we go down

This season would still see him hold much of his value should we then need to sell later on :ayatollah:

So what do you want for this club and how would you suggest we improve and go forward? Or are you happy for us to get relegated ?

Yes i agree on balanced investment, i dont want us to go bezerk but we cannot afford to scrimp and scrape either and be too tight and make relegation too risky. We need to act NOW. NOW is the time to keep this club on the platform it deserves going forward. Striker is key i just hope we end up with the right quality this time and if that means we have to push the boat out financially this time then so be it, we cannot have another f**k up like the summer. Balanced investment would be getting someone like niasse in on loan or tammy abraham signed, i think them players would have enough to keep us up but if we wont pay tidy wages or fees and scrimp and scrape and we just go further and further down our list of targets then thats where we could end up in trouble and come up short at the end of the season thats my point really.
