Emiliano Sala looking to stay at Nantes after showing no interest in Premier League move
By Naveen Ullal

Club negotiated ‘discreetly’ with Cardiff for transfer, player has reservations about move

On December 11th, we carried a report from France Football, who claimed that Nantes’ Emiliano Sala was attracting interest from the Premier League.

He was on the radar of Cardiff City, Fulham, West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Southampton, with the Bluebirds ahead of other clubs in the race to sign the forward.

The Ligue 1 side signed the Argentine from Bordeaux in 2015 and as a part of the deal, Nantes have to pay 50 percent of the future transfer fee to the player’s former club.

Neil Warnock’s side were negotiating for with the French outfit for the 28-year-old and after defeat against Manchester United, the Welsh club’s manager admitted their initial offer was rejected by the attacker’s employer.

France Football has the latest update and the headline of the story mentions the Premier League club might have given up on Sala.

Nantes negotiated ‘discreetly’ for the player’s transfer for €25m in January, but the South American forward is not keen on joining the club that’s 17th in the league table.

Cardiff now will have to look elsewhere in the winter market.

Firstly I never thought we would agree a fee and secondly never thought we would pay his wages or that he would want to join us. Our only chance is if he gets desperate right at the end of the window and takes a gamble on us.

This deal right now was never ever realistic.

Reports like this are just click bait. There is no proof/quotes to back up what they are saying. It may well be true but at least add some substance to what you are reporting.

I would be happy with Niasse and Neal Maupay. Wouldn't cost a lot. Niasse on loan and around £10m for Maupay. Loan Madine out.

That is the way i would go aswell if it is possible.

We are good either way, Niasse is a good Prem player and Maupay is proven at championship level if the worst happens we have a very good striker on our books to take us back up and we have not put our clubs financial future at risk

There's no way the media can know this.

As long as Neil and the club have spoken to him regarding this then that's the main thing. At least they will know whether they need to move on to the next target or get a contract on the table.

If he would come I would try and get Lloriente. At least we know he can get goals in a relegation battle

Why would Spurs let him go in January?
He’s virtually the only back up striker they have.
