About Leicester City

Leicester City Football Club is an English professional football club based in Leicester. The club competes in the Premier League, England's top division of football, and plays its home games at the King Power Stadium.

The club was founded in 1884 as Leicester Fosse F.C., playing on a field near Fosse Road. They moved to Filbert Street in 1891, were elected to the Football League in 1894 and adopted the name Leicester City in 1919. They moved to the nearby Walkers Stadium in 2002, which was renamed the King Power Stadium in 2011.

Leicester won the 2015–16 Premier League, their first top-level football championship. They are one of only six clubs to have won the Premier League since its inception in 1992. A number of newspapers described Leicester's title win as the greatest sporting shock ever, considering at the start of the season they were favourites to face relegation. Multiple bookmakers had never paid out at such long odds for any sport. As a result, the team was dubbed "The Unbelievables", a spin-off harking back to Arsenal's undefeated team "The Invincibles". The club's previous highest ever finish was second place in the top flight, in 1928–29, then known as Division One. Throughout Leicester's history, they have spent all but one season in the top two leagues of English football. They hold a joint-highest seven second-tier titles (six Second Division and one Championship).

The club have been FA Cup finalists four times, in 1948–49, 1960–61, 1962–63 and 1968–69. This is a tournament record for the most defeats in the final without having won the competition. Leicester have several promotions to their name, two play-off final wins, and one League One title. In 1971, they won the FA Community Shield, and in 2016, they were runners-up. The club have won the League Cup three times in 1964, 1997 and 2000, as well as being runners-up in 1965 and 1999. Leicester City have also competed in European football, featuring in the 1961–62 European Cup Winners' Cup, 1997–98 UEFA Cup, 2000–01 UEFA Cup, and most recently the 2016–17 UEFA Champions League, reaching the quarter-finals of the competition in that year.

This will be hard as leicester are on a good run but they seem more suited to counter attack football which is easier against the big teams. We wont let them do that and our stubborness will get us another 0-0 draw.

Not confident about this game at all, Leicester are on a role and our away form is pathetic
I think it'll be 3-0 to them

For me apart from the obvious on the striker we need a midfield and a right back then job done.
Zahore did look good against United he held the ball up well looked a threat and we played more in United's half.
We need more possession against teams its a bit desperate at times such a shame Zahore is out again we got to calm down and take the pace out the game and play are own game so for me at mo possession will give us a bit more edge and make us harder to beat.
If we do this we have a chance .
Another draw would be brilliant we'll see.
More possession though please bit more control of the game .

Claude Puel gives Leicester City injury update ahead of Cardiff City clash

Friday 28th December 2018

The Foxes manager says his players are tired - but not injured - after their last couple of tough games.

Leicester City have tiredness but no fresh injuries to contend with as they take on Cardiff this weekend.

Jamie Vardy and his Leicester team-mates are set for their third game in eight days but despite the intense festive schedule, Claude Puel has nobody new on the treatment table.

However, with plenty of running undertaken in the wins over possession-dominating Chelsea and Manchester City, Puel is keeping an eye on which players are holding up best.

“There are no injuries, but after I don’t know my starting line-up because it always difficult after two strong games,” said Puel.

“We need to make points about the tiredness in the team but all my players are ready to play and to perform.

“(Vardy) is not injured, like other players he played two strong games with lots of intensity and we will see (how he is) tomorrow.

“The most important thing is to be ready for a different team. People think it will be easy to have a good result against Cardiff because we beat Chelsea and Man City, but it’s another way and other difficulties.”

Having watched his team do a lot of chasing against Chelsea and Man City, Puel is expecting Leicester to dominate the ball against the visiting Welsh side.

“If we look at just the teams, Chelsea, Man City, they are great trams with great players, so of course it’s fantastic results for us in the same week,” he added.

“It was a particular game all the time, these teams try to play with possession and a lot with the ball. We need to adapt to these situations and play differently with deep block and to try to counter attack.

“We know it was difficult to have a lot of ball, so it was important to put in place a strong block, with good organisation, and to try to, after recovery, play good football. We managed well.

“Against Cardiff, it will be different, with different players, a different style, direct play, a lot of fight, a lot of second balls, duels, battles.

“They will play deep, we will have the ball. It’s another game and we need to be ready about this.”

Not all Leicester players are fit to face the Bluebirds with long-term absentees Matty James and Daniel Amartey still unavailable for selection.

They are slowly making their comebacks, though.

“Matty James continues to work and improve with his intensity,” said Puel.

“Daniel Amartey has put his feet back on the floor now, he can walk and I hope he can run soon.”

I was taught as a kid ' if you don't shoot you don't score ' methinks the same applies, I know it's simplistic in in its view but as a team we have players that can score from distance , one or two is all it takes to get the right result.
You are my Cardiff.
Keep singing lads !

I think we have a chance in this match

Keep it tight and hit them with quick counter attacks

Well done Junior Hoilett. It was a class touch from Chilwell that almost foxed the back-tracking winger, but Hoilett holds his body position and wins an admittedly cheap foul in his own box. Danger averted.

Cardiff are unhappy as Camarasa concedes a free-kick that has Neil Warnock protesting to fourth official Mike Dean. What a meeting of minds that is on the King Power touchline.

Chilwell whips in a dangerous ball to the back post but Bamba prods it away for a corner.
