WHU: Gary Medel bid rejected

Wed Dec 26, 2018 11:32 pm

West Ham United have failed with a £6.5million bid for former Cardiff City enforcer Gary Medel, according to reports.

Thursday 27th December 2018

Besiktas have rejected the Hammers’ opening offer, but it is understood Manuel Pellegrini is desperate to sign a player who can add more steel to his midfield.

The Turkish club are in a state of financial crisis, but are refusing to sell the 31-year-old on the cheap.

With 114 international caps for Chile to his name, Medel would add experience and grit to a Hammers midfield which has been far too open at times this season.

But according to reports in Turkey, West Ham will have to increase their initial offer in order to prise another star asset away from the Super Lig club.

Former Real Madrid defender Pepe terminated his own contract before leaving the club, while Jermaine Lens has already been sold.

He is exactly what we need in our midfield next to Harry Arter.

Fantastic player

Medel and Arter sat in front of our defence would be quality

I'd love to have him back. One of the true quality players we had last time in the prem and this time wouldn't have to do it all on his own. Probably available at a good price too

Well his price is more than £6.5 million plus wages of 50k a week probably and hes 31 no sell on value after a 3 year contract
So actually imo hes exactly what we dont need

Nor me...fell away and was as culpable as anyone towards the back end of the season and the way he 'engineered' his exit showed a lack of class :(

Completely sensible post and that’s one reason why it won’t happen .......

But, personally, I’d love him back. Oozed class, experience and is just what we need.
