MY VIEW:WARNOCK MADE 5 CHANGES AND CARDIFF WERE ON THE ROPES

Wed Dec 26, 2018 4:51 pm

MY VIEW /OPINION

NEIL WARNOCK MADE 5 CHANGES AND CARDIFF WERE ON THE ROPES FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE GAME, BUT THANKS TO CARDIFF'S DEFIANT DEFENCE CAME AWAY FROM PALACE WITH A VERY VERY GOOD AWAY POINT.

This for me will help Cardiff go away to Leicester City this Saturday full of confidence :bluebird: :bluebird:

A CLEAN SHEET FOR CARDIFF AS WELL :ayatollah: :bluebird: :bluebird:

After a dominated first-half by Palace, Cardiff improved in the second-half.

But Palace hit the Cardiff Cross bar and hit the post during the game, with Zaha playing well for them and at times tearing Cardiff apart.

Sol Bamba and Joe Bennett were outstanding and both held their own :bluebird:

Neil Warnock made five changes from the Man United defeat.
Cunningham, Gunnarsson, Murphy and After were all dropped to the bench, while Callum Paterson was left out.

Warnock put Bennett, Ralls, Decordova-Reid, Harris and Peltier all in.

First-half: Palace dominated for at least 35mins and could of been 3nil up, City started to get in to the game in the last 10mins, Zaha for Palace played well and hit the cross bar.

CRYSTAL PALACE 0 CARDIFF CITY 0 :bluebird: :bluebird:

Neil Etheridge Lee Peltier Bruno Manga Sol Bamba Sean Morrison Joe Bennett Victor Camarasa Joe Ralls
Junior Hoilett Kadeem Harris Bobby Decordova-Reid

Subs: Alex Smithies Greg Cunningham Harry Arter Aron Gunnarsson Josh Murphy
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing Gary Madine

Palace took control of the game and did all the running with Zaha at his best including hitting the cross bar early on.

For 25mins Palace dominated the game and all that was missing was a goal from them.

Palace controlled the midfield.

Cardiff's first shot was by Hoilett in the 25th min, but off target.

Yellow card for Sol Bamba after fouling Kouyate.

35th min Bobby headed over the bar for Cardiff.

45th min Hoilett booked.

H/T 0-0 :bluebird:

Zaha started like he did the first-half attacking Cardiff with his runs and skill, but thankfully Sol Bamba stood strong and made some good tackles and clearances.

Palace cleared their lines after Bobby Reid squared across their six yard box.

Then Palace once again took control, but thankfully there shots were wide or over the Cardiff cross bar.

Palace continually had the run of play, with Zaha everywhere and Palace had a few more shots wide.

City's Victor Camarasa did have a shot after good play by Joe Bennett.

76th min Palace hit the Cardiff post, Milivojevic from a freekick!

Sol Bamba and Joe Bennett were outstanding and both held their own :bluebird:

Kadeem Harris had a good shot saved :bluebird:

Zaha again caused problems, cutting in from the left this time before forcing Etheridge into a smart save with a low drive.

87th min Zaha was clean through on goal. Looked destined to put it away, but Bruno Manga made a lung-busting run to get back and got a vital touch to put it out for a corner. :bluebird: :bluebird:

F/T 0-0 :bluebird:

MY MEN OF THE MATCH WERE SOL BAMBA & JOE BENNETT / OUTSTANDING :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

UP NEXT THIS SATURDAY LEICESTER CITY V CARDIFF CITY 3PM :thumbright: :bluebird:

Could been so much better if we had a proper striker on pitch! But great result as all other teams below us haven't improved .

Yep, got to be happy with that and a battling performance who (it seems) will keep City supporters on the edge of their seats for the rest if the season to come! :laughing6:

I hope that is the case, as last time here we were effectively finished by the start of February

That game showed we need a quality striker. If we don't buy a striker in Jan the board needs looking at. I just hope they are not holding out for zohore up top on his own. Bring someone in and play zohore up with him.

Point away there plus clean sheet could be crucial at end of season. All of our rivals down the bottom took a kicking apart from Fulham.

Its a shame we don't seem to have the nouse to keep the ball in midfield for more then 2 passes. Looks like we got away with that today and if we had a striker could even have committed daylight robbery!

Not sure board can influence a player coming here, they have said backing NW let's just hope he does the buisness

Given the results for both clubs at the weekend this is a very welcome point that is made all the more valuable with Burnley, Huddersfield and Newcastle losing and Fulham and Palace drawing, So overall this has been a brilliant day for us.

Now a striker please in early January.

I thought Bobby Reid was good today, help up the well, his touch is better than Zahore, his link up play is better than Patterson. I'd like to see him get a run of games.

Re: MY VIEW:WARNOCK MADE 5 CHANGES AND CARDIFF WERE ON THE R

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock told Match of the Day: "I thought we were a bit nervous in the first 10 minutes but then we grew into the game and looked more positive. We looked to play and created some good chances.

"We didn't try to shut the shop up, towards the end we were trying to get a winner. I thought their goalie made the best save but Manga's tackle on Zaha, I don't know where he got that from!

"It's not from the training ground, it's elementary mistakes that have cost us so far. You're going to have opportunities when you have Zaha and Townsend, and players like that.

"So we've tried to limit them and we did. We stayed strong and on another day we could have got all three points."

What a Boxing Day trip that was! Crystal Palace after just beating Man City couldn’t put it in the back of the net against us. City in defence, magnificent. At times we played 6 at the back but so what, other times we played the ball about, at the end of the day a cracking result. Every player fought and fought till the end. And what can you say about the 2000 travelling city fans, unbelievable support, the best, proud as!! Bring on Leicester :bluebird:

games like this are all about the result - we were outplayed by a better team and had very little of the game, but left with a point.

the finishing by both sides was woeful - absolutely appalling. on this showing it is essential that we sign a player (or players) that can put his foot through the ball and has the ability to fashion chances in the penalty box, because reid and harris are not going to cause any problems at this level.

camerasa was very good. other than that, it was just about defending an onslaught. last on MOTD again.

We were hanging on virtually all match. Palace hit the post in the second minute and it was backs to the wall from there.

But it’s a really good point against a Palace team who just beat the Champions and would have been confident.

Because of the result, I would say Warnock’s gamble with the tactics paid off.

A similar job and result at Leicester would be a good couple of points for us in these two games to finish 2018.

Daniel Gabbidon:

Palace will rue missed chances but from a #CardiffCity point of view they will feel much better about that performance in and out of possession and individually. Kadeem Harris could of completed the smash and grab mission but not be be. A good hard fought point.
