Breaking:Neil Warnock "Its a Disgrace" Plus bringing in

Wed Dec 26, 2018 11:26 am

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock delivers Transfer Update & says its a disgrace to only been able to have two loans from other clubs in the Premier League.

Warnock also reveals its more likely Cardiff will try to bring in loan players, than buy players.

Neil Warnock admits it's currently "unlikely" that Cardiff City will strike a permanent deal to sign Nantes forward Emiliano Sala in the January transfer window.

Warnock was in France earlier this month to watch Nantes as they beat Marseille, with Argentine Sala finding the back of the net in a 3-2 win for his side.

But speaking ahead of Cardiff's Boxing Day clash with his former employers Crystal Palace, Warnock admitted that - while a potential deal for Sala was not completely out of the reckoning - it appears increasingly likely that the Bluebirds' winter business will be conducted in the loan market.

When asked if the Bluebirds were any closer to striking a deal to secure the services of the forward, Warnock commented: "No not at all.

NEIL WARNOCK:

"We’re looking as best we can at where we can get players in.

"At the moment it looks very much like the loan market for us.

"That might change, and everything seems to change so dramatically at our club at times. I wouldn’t say that (deal dead) but it’s highly unlikely at the moment.

"Hopefully we can bring in one or two over the next couple of weeks to give us a little bit more choice with selection.

"We're not doing so good at the moment. Without going into names, we've got three or four niggles that we could have done without really at this stage."

Warnock has previously stated his desire to sign a right-back and a central midfielder in addition to a frontman during the January window in a bid to bolster the Bluebirds' hopes of preserving their Premier League status.

And the veteran boss has revealed that he is "close" to a couple of targets, although the Yorkshireman admits he's frustrated by the Premier League's loan rules which state clubs in the top flight can only have two players on loan from other sides in the same division at any given time.

"I’d like to think I’ve got one close but you just never know in the game," he added.

"There’s a couple of positions we're looking at, I'm close to a couple of them, but we're nowhere near there, so it’s like not knowing what’s around the corner when opening a present.

"It is so difficult the higher you go. The Championship was a little bit easier in January but in the Premier League you’ve got to get the best in.

"Heaven knows why we can only have two loan players from English clubs, I haven't got a clue, when you’re talking about our English players needing experience.

"And we can't loan more than one player because we've got Harry Arter so I can't take a young English striker or a young midfielder. It’s scandalous. You can bring 10 from abroad.

"Who are we trying to help? Who has invented these rules? It's a disgrace really, when I could be giving another good young English lad the opportunity of playing in the Premier League."

It does seem odd that a club can loan only two Premier League players, yet (like Wolves) can sign more from abroad but the rules is the rules and City knew them before the season started

Whilst I remain positive for some decent signings in this transfer window, it doesn't help with comments such as (quote) "It is so difficult the higher you go. The Championship was a little bit easier in January but in the Premier League you’ve got to get the best in." given that most on here think our business dealings in the same (but Championship) window last season was pretty disappointing overall

I know the manager is managing expectations but I think both squad and supporters need a January boost! :ayatollah:

I agree but it's becoming increasingly frustrating with his comments in regards to leading up to this transfer window, trying to get people on side and get people to like him and get sympathy and take the pressure off us when we need the pressure because we need players and Warnock needs to realise that we are in a good position and we have done well to compete with the amount of money we spent but to get us over the line we need signings so he needs to suck it up and get on with it.

Maybe just maybe, there really is NO big money available from Tan and if we don't bring in three quality players, in my opinion we will go down, more costly in the long run.

I believe this to be true and if so it's very sad. You've got to grasp your opportunities with both hands otherwise they slip away.

Of course it’s true nobody has tried to say any different.

We won’t be spending any big money and that’s a good thing unless anybody can name any decent signings that ever get made in January that are not very overpriced.

I doubt any team around us will go out and get 3 quality signings it will be more like the crap we signed when ole was in charge remember the mess that left us in.
