NEIL WARNOCK:
Interviewed by Ian Mitchelmore
December 2018
Do you think your players have learnt much from that defeat against Manchester United?
I've no idea. I'd like to think so. The goals we’ve conceded all season have been poor. We're in trouble if we keep conceding like that.
Crystal Palace and Leicester City away?
Yeah Palace and Leicester to come. They had great results. They (Palace) deserved it at Man City, and so did Leicester.
It shows how difficult it’s going to be, and then we have a nice easy home game against Tottenham. So it's a great time to look forward to next year. Roll on 2019!
Are you surprised by Palace's result against Man City?
That’s the result of the season. I thought they deserved it. They’ve got the pace and power to trouble teams.
I'm looking forward to it because I've got some special memories there. I’ve got some good friends there and it’s always a good atmosphere.
Are there many people at the club you're still in contact with?
Not necessarily inside the club, there’s three or four inside the club who I still keep in touch with, but supporters who I met when I lived there, I still keep in touch with them.
How do you look back at that time of your career?
I enjoyed it. Simon Jordan got me that love back. I felt really let down leaving Sheffield United. I think I would’ve jacked it in had it not been for Simon.
I ended up having a fabulous relationship with him and I'm disappointed how it ended for him aswell.
Didn't Simon say 'will you come and help out?'?
He just wanted me to have a look all around the club in general to see if I could put my finger on anything he needed help with.
But I'm glad he did. I used to think London, below Watford, was the pits. I never thought you could travel below Watford.
But QPR was fabulous aswell, talking to the deer in Richmond Park, they were some of the great days in my life.
Do you think you can get something against Palace?
I think we can get something from every game. I think we need a bit of luck and we need to defend well.
We have got one or two problems as always but hopefully we can bring one or two in in the next couple of weeks to give a little bit more choice with selection really.
How are you doing with injuries?
We're not doing so good at the moment. Without going into names, we've got three or four niggles that we could have done without really at this stage.
Having said that, I think if we'd have got beat 5-1 and I was in the team I might think I'd have a little niggle for Palace and Leicester!
